About this Cook
Being a vegetarian, I didn't know how to cook anything except potatoes until I moved to Las Vegas with my boyfriend. He is a total meat eater, so I had to learn how to cook everything.
My favorite things to cook
I love expirementing and trying new things, tweaking recipes I find, and trying to create wonderful new tastes.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My boyfriend's mother taught me how to cook the homemade noodles that have been in his family for decades. I love making them on every holiday.
My cooking triumphs
My first Thanksgiving dinner was this year! Turkey, noodles, stuffing, the works. I was so scared the turkey wasn't done, everything was going to be a disaster, but it wasn't! Suprisingly to everyone, the dinner was very good. Not bad for someone who has never eaten turkey.
My cooking tragedies
There have been soo many.....learning how to cook steak, chicken, and any meat for my boyfriend. I make it, then have him tell me how good it is, what I need to change, and I keep trying until I get it right....poor guy has eaten many many terrible dinners on my quest to make good food. There was the picnic I wanted to have, overlooking the lake. We used one of the grills that park had, and I made chicken on the grill, only it was very windy that day, and we couldn't keep the grill hot enough. The wind kept blowing off the tin foil, I lost a chicken breast on the ground, the chicken wouldn not get done. Finally, after fighting with the grill for an hour, I said it was done enough. The chicken was still pink in the middle, the corn on the cob was still hard and uncooked, and we couldn't even cut into the baked potato. Picnic over, we found the nearest Mc donalds.

Homestyle Turkey, the Michigander Way
I made this turkey last year, and while it was good...it took forever to cook, and I dont want to make the same mistake this year. Can anyone tell me, for a 13 lb. stuffed turkey, how long the cooking time should be? Also..I see a lot of peopel recommend putting it on a bed of veggies, or on a rack, what if I put the veggies under the rack in the roasting pan, would that work as well? Or should you use one or the other?

Nic's Easiest, Creamiest Macaroni and Cheese
I haven't tried this recipe, but I thought I would let everyone know the cecret to mac n cheese from a box. Make it according to the box directions, Adding about a tablespoon more milk. Then add 2 slices american cheese, and 1 tablespoon of philly cream cheese. Stir over low heat until melted. This is the best.

Cinnamon Raisin Swirl Bread
Made it in the oven, I don't have a bread machine. Was good, but not quite as sweet and sugar-y as I like, was more of a hint of sweetness, but still good.
