About this Cook
I am a married to a wonderful husband who is a fire fighter. We have two great kids under the age of 8. It is a challenge to cook in our house, since he has so many tasty things at the fire station.
My favorite things to cook
I love to bake. When I was in high school, I used to sell all of my baked goods and decorate cakes in order to pay for my way in sports. Since having kids it is more difficult to find the time to bake, but I try to find recipes that my kids can help me.
My favorite family cooking traditions
We make a roast in rock salt every year at Thankgsgiving. I don't know how it started but it is something we have always done. You cover a standing rib roast in rock salt and bake it (500 degrees). When it comes out of the oven the salt has solidified over the meat. But the result is delicious and tender.

Janet's Rich Banana Bread
This is by far the best banana bread ever. I only added (changed) 3 things. Per the suggestion of others, I added one more banana and mashed the banana's. I also caramelize my walnuts by lightly heating them with 1 tbsp of salted butter and 1 tbsp sugar. This is something my grandmother always did with any banana nut recipe. The banana bread came out tender, moist and absolutely delicious.

Chicken Delicious
This got another Wow from my husband and "its a keeper' from my 8 year old. The only thing I add is more spices. I have made this a couple of times and have changed up the spices each time

Warm and Spicy Autumn Punch
Made this for a party recently. I was pleasantly surprised that it was almost gone by the end of the party. It is my observation that punches do not get drank at parties, people stick to the "bottles" or "cans". It just took one person to try it and exclaim how good it was and others were diving into it.
