Ease of prep, tasty and delicious! You can't go wrong. Also tried omitting the vanilla & substituting 1/4 c. lemon juice. Wow! I'm thinking lime juice next and after that other add to's.

I made this cake last night and it turned out wonderfully! I did use canned frosting while it was still warm from the oven. It melted so lovely on the cake. A keeper! And so easy! Next time I will bake it in 2 layers, use an extra can of pie filling between the layers and on top. Then top with whipped cream!

This recipe was a springboard for me to Banana Walnut Cake!! I made my own pie filling from about 5 frozen bananas, a small package of banana cream pudding mix and about 1 cup of milk. Then added the cake mix and some chopped walnuts. After baking, let it cook, spread with cream cheese frosting and sprinkle with chopped walnuts. It was a hit at my Church dinner and everyone wants the recipe! Soon I will try it with other fruit pie or puddings. Your imagination is the only limit!!
