About this Cook
Home-grown Alaskan; mom is Malaysian and dad is American/Irish. I'm college educated, adventurous, and always optimistic.
My favorite things to cook
I love baking cookies, muffins, breads... But as far as real foods go, I like to make grilled salmon, stir-fry veggies, throw-everything-in soups, and hearty salads.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Malaysian Chicken Curry
My cooking triumphs
Managing my own little cafe overlooking Bishop's Beach in Homer. I managed, cooked, baked, served, cleaned, etc. Our menu included Malaysian Chicken Curry, Tofu Vegetable Curry, Wheat Bread (served in a flower pot), Bagel Sandwiches, Muffins, Cookies, Brownies, Ice Cream, Bubble Tea, and Espresso Drinks.
My cooking tragedies
Sure I've burnt plenty of things and mixed clashing flavors, but seems like there's always something you can do to make it at least semi-decent.

Soba with Toasted Sesame Seed Sauce
Soo-ba yummie! I added a veggie stir-fry as recommended by others (carrots, broccoli, onions, mushrooms, & baked tofu); and poured on a mixture of soy sauce, sesame oil, sugar, & fresh ginger at the very end. I liked the presentation, and turns out those soba noodles are pretty nutritious and high in protein. I'd definitely like to use this recipe again. Thanks!

Spinach Chick Pea Curry
Tasty curry, I accidentally forgot to buy the creamed corn, and therefore omitted it from my batch, but it still turned out ok. And make sure you know what level of spiciness is the curry paste (as mine turned out way too spicy with just two spoonfuls of red curry paste). But I would definitely like to make this recipe again.

Decadent Chocolate Orange Cake
It's soo rich tasting and not too difficult to make. I alo agree that it's a perfect party cake because it looks beautiful when finished.
