I'm a a family person, love spending time with my family, the whole family and thats alot of people; Although when I lived at home my mom did the cooking and I watched her and learned alot from her. After playing around with a few recipes, I learned that as long as I followed the basic recipe I could do some changes and make lots of different dishes. I love to cook for friends and family and will make things for them and not even eat them myself.
My favorite things to cook
I love making cookies for the Guys in my husbands Unit, we're military and I make them homemade goodies, most of these guys are singled and not family, which usually means "no homemade anything in some time". It makes me feel good to know that I can give something to the ones that "keep watch over us".
My favorite family cooking traditions
Because I'm a family person and love to have a house full of people at the holidays, and us being military, my family isn't always around and neither is my husbands, so we started a tradition of our own, "each thanksgiving we would invite the single marines in my husbands unit to come have dinner with us." I would cook enough food that there was leftovers for them to have a plate to take home with them. I cooked for days and loved to see the marines eat all of it and truly enjoy their meals, its alot to someone that can not go home for the holidays unless you take leave, because if its over 350 miles you can't go, unless u use your leave. They have to stay close "just in case they are called back to the base..
