My Man and Me
Me and My Soux Chefs
About this Cook
I just ALMOST made it on The Food Network's Next Food Network Star!!! I love to cook because I love gratification... enjoying my own food and enjoying other people enjoying it!!!
My favorite things to cook
I love anything with fresh herbs... I like cheese, garlic, onions, olive oil, wines... and I really like a good piece of meat!
My favorite family cooking traditions
My Grandma Rose made a killer "Seven Cheese Macaroni..." and I loved her Rumaki (did I spell that right?) I loved my Papa's southern breakfasts (always with sliced tomatoes) and my mama's pot roast and peach pies.
My cooking triumphs
Cooking with four kids running around is quite a feat... bringing them into the kitchen and having them beg to cook with me is one of my greatest joys in life. I also love when someone from our Bible study says they LOVE something I have made!
My cooking tragedies
Not making it onto the Food Network's Next Food Network Star... and of course my little food catastrophes!(Of which I have quite a few funny stories... like the time I cooked chicken breasts in the crockpot with nothing but white vinegar!)

Ethiopian Cabbage Dish
This is SUPER yum!!! We added finely chopped cooked chicken left over from last night (about a cup) and that gave it a rich chewy texture layer.

Almond Butter Cookies
GREAT recipe! I rolled the dough in granulated sugar before baking, and because I used my airbake pan, it took more like 11 minutes, but these were delicious! Crisp at the edges and chewy in the middle, I would repeat this again!

Overnight Coffee Cake
I didn't think this was dry - but i did (can't help it!!) make a couple yummy changes - I sliced fresh pears onto the top before adding my own streusel made up of butter crumbled with brown sugar, oats, a bit of flour, cinnamon, crushed pecans or walnuts, and nutmeg. I also use half whole wheat flour in place of one cup of the white flour - adds depth and a bit more nutritional value... yummy, yummy!!!
