About this Cook
I generally prefer to eat healthy, and I like a wide variety of foods. Although tried and true dishes are nice, I love being experimental with food and trying new flavors. I married a wonderful husband, who wasn't so adventurous with food, and was known to be "picky." My challenge is to make healthy food taste good enough for my hubby to love. My idea of "splurging" at the grocery store is getting asparagus on sale that was not on my grocery list, impulse purchase of radishes because they looked so pretty, or buying gourmet sea salt. My favorite things to cook
I love to cook anything new. I try to incorporate at least one new dish a week so I can satisfy my sense of adventure without stretching my dear hubby too much. I also love grilled food. I make the marinade, but hubby does all the grilling. I call him the master chef griller because everything he turns out on the grill is perfect. His grilled chicken is more moist than any restaurant.
My cooking triumphs
My cooking triumph is turning my husband into a food lover. When I first met him, he said he would prefer if he could get all his nutritional requirements in pill form. He was famous among friends and family for being picky, but not anymore! I've gotten him to try AND LOVE many new foods that he had never before tried, or even given the time of day. He's such a converted foodie, he has even shunned some of his old favorite fast food joints as subpar quality food. It gives me so much pleasure in seeing him savor homemade meals made with fresh, quality ingredients.
My cooking tragedies
I've tried homemade brownies a countless number of times, but they never turn out well. I came pretty close recently, but it still wasn't fudgy enough. The experiment continues for a chewy, chocolately, fudgy brownie. I've also burned every barbeque chicken I've tried to make in the crockpot.

Coconut-Cream Cheese Frosting
Perfect taste but doesn't hold it's shape well enough to pipe onto cupcakes.

Coconut Cream Pound Cake
A lot of reviewers said was a tad dry, and I agree.

Carrot Burgers
Yum! I made the "kid-friendly" modifications for my hubby: used onion powder and celery seed instead of fresh onions and celery. I also chopped the carrots into tiny pieces instead of dicing. I topped it with muenster cheese and ketchup, and served it on a whole wheat bun. I wasn't too hungry so I just prepared a burger for him. But while I was waiting for him to come down for dinner, I ended up eating half of his burger because it was so good. My meat loving husband finished the other half and I had to make another whole one for him. This was the first veggie burger my picky husband has ever ate, and he said he would eat it again.
