About this Cook
I'm a 42 year old woman with three sons. One son is a newlywed and cooks quite well..I am sure that pleases his bride. The other two sons are 13 and 11. I love recipes that have great flavor but also save me time with some of the ingredients. My favorite meal to cook is Sunday dinner because everyone gets out of church famished and we always sit as a family.
My favorite things to cook
I love to bake casseroles. One thing I really love to do is surprise someone with a meal to minister to them. I find people are so busy these days that a cooked meal is always the most pleasant of surprises. I love making a roast dinner or chicken dinner in my crock pot and a big batch of mashed potatoes to go with it.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I love baking cookies at Christmas. I really love making iced sugar cookies in bright colors.
My cooking triumphs
My most recent recipe is soon to be posted on Allrecipes.com. It's a frozen dessert with layers (all very easy) and the center layer is ice cream sandwiches. I created this recipe when the expensive frozen ice cream cakes were no longer big enough to feed my large birthday gatherings. It's called "Ice Cream Sandwich Delight" if you want to watch for it to be posted here.
My cooking tragedies
Biggest tragedy was when I was a young woman trying to learn how to cook and impress my husband. I didn't know you couldn't put a glass baking dish on top of the stove at all. I had baked a wonderful dish but it got done early. I didn't want it to get cold before my husband got home from work, so I decided it would probably be okay to put it on top of the stove with very low heat on the coils. All went okay until we were in the middle of supper and the glass dish literally exploded all over the table, with glass on our plates in our faces, in our laps and all over the floor. To say my husband was stunned is an understatement !

Pizza Dough II
I used a Bread Machine and set it to the dough cycle..simply wonderful. I ended up adding nearly 1 cup extra flour to get it not sticky. I am eating it right now and can't believe how great it is.

Never Fail Pie Crust II
I made this recipe last week and used the spiral dough beaters on my mixer, which worked great. I made the full recipe, but used half on one pie last week and stored the other half for a pie this week. The first pie I baked the entire pie with the crust (no pre-baking) and it didn't bake well in certain areas and felt dense and doughy even though the pie was done. The second half was used in a pie that held a cream filling, so the crust was baked completely first, before the filling was added. I must say the results on the second pie were outstanding and will be the preferred way I use this recipe. I love the flavor of the recipe and it lends itself well to the sweet fillings I put in it. It is not sweet, nor bland, but tasted like an old-fashioned pie crust. I am KEEPING this recipe! Thanks so much, Sheila in Missouri

Wedding Cake Icing
This is a keeper recipe. My son wanted frosting that tasted like a wedding cake and this is the one I tried. He was happy. Thanks so much
