I recently quit teaching Kindergarten after 12 years of being queen everyday at my job. (Young children act as though you are royalty.) As long as wore lipstick I looked good to them. I could go into work shabby and tired or be dripping wet from rain and the girls would still hang on me and the boys would shyly invite me to their homes for Thanksgiving dinner or their birthday parties. I left those precious souls for other precious ones. I am now in nursing school to be a geriatric RN. My heart is filled with gratitude and love for our older generations. I hope to care for them in their last days.
As for home life I am a mom of a sweet, beautiful 2-year old boy. My hard-working husband is an engineer.
My favorite things to cook
I love to cook comfort food. I also enjoy doing a lot of Southern cooking. Paula Deen is one of my heroes!
My favorite family cooking traditions
I love reminiscing about sitting in my 'Granny's' kitchen in AR. She would cook us a big pot of chicken and dumplings, peach cobbler, and pancakes with homemade syrup. I remember her giving us "coffee" when we were hardly tall enough to sit at the table. (It was more cream than coffee.) She was an LVN and so during the holidays she made pies and cakes for the doctors at the hospital where she worked as an emergency room nurse.
My cooking triumphs
My first stab at gourmet--I made Lobster Newberg for company. They still talk about it to this day--10 years later.
My cooking tragedies
--dropping 2 homemade caramel pies in the floor the day before Thanksgiving.
