Cola Pork Chops

Reviewed: Oct. 8, 2009
Eh! This was ok, particularly if you have cola to use up. Very easy, and most uses things you have on hand. I'd put onions in it if I make it again.

Amish White Bread

Reviewed: Sep. 10, 2009
I never proof the yeast unless I suspect it might be too old, + I keep yeast in the fridge. The bread is very easy to make, is very light but easy to cut and doesn't crumble, so it makes good sandwich bread and toast. I used Robin Hood Flour from Canada (which is very fine, like silk compared to regular flour which is velvety). It raised so well my husband said it looked like it had a parachute open. Very good bread, I will make it a lot.

Peach Ice Cream

Reviewed: Sep. 5, 2009
I cut this recipe in half and it still made too much for my icecream maker, so I made the 2nd batch the next day. Not complaining, it was delish! I did cook the milk and eggs as I think it makes it creamier. I will make this again, such a good way to eat fresh peaches!

I had blueberries and black berries, so I mixed them to make this pie tonight. I called it the "Black and Blue Berry Pie". It is easy and very yummerific!

Boston Baked Beans

Reviewed: Jul. 25, 2009
I started this the night before, cooking the beans with a meaty ham bone. After simmering for a few hours, the beans were soft, so I removed the meat from the bone, drained the bean liquid (I used both white beans and baby lima's and it was great), mixed it all together with the called for ingredients and a small splash of liquid smoke, and set the crock pot to cook low over night. About 2 hours before serving, I put the dish in the oven @ 350* to start, then down to 250* after it bubbled awhile, stirring occasionally. Took it to a BBQ, and not one bean was left. Good thing I tripled the recipe. These were not runny, so easy to eat with out them running all over your plate. The ham was a bonus, so I will do it like that again.

Very Chocolate Ice Cream

Reviewed: Jul. 25, 2009
This is hands down the best Chocolate Ice Cream I have made. I added 2 whole eggs instead of the 3 egg yolks, mixing it in with the milk and cream before cooking, and didn't measure the chocolate chips, (I figured 2 hands full was enuff). Smooth and creamy, it was wonderful. Will make this again and again.

Banana Crumb Muffins

Thses are wonderfully moist and easy to make. I added 3/4 cup of Chocolate Chips to the batter and made 24 mini muffins and 7 regular size out of one batch.

Lime Ice Cream

Reviewed: Jul. 24, 2009
This was yummy and refreshing on a hot summer day. I added 2 eggs to the milk and cream before cooking for added richness, and it was perfect. Works great in the Cuisinart Ice Cream maker.

Creamy Vanilla Ice Cream

Reviewed: Jun. 15, 2009
This was perfect for my Cuisinart Ice Cream Maker. I only used 1 cup of cream because that's all I had, and 3 cups of 2%. I added one more egg then called for, and a bit more sugar, too. The ice cream was indeed creamy and smooth and oh-so-good! Served with Fresh Strawberries on top. There were NO left overs.

Rhubarb Dream Bars

Reviewed: Jun. 15, 2009
This was like eating a Rhubarb Custard Pie, only easier because I didn't have to roll out the pie crust or worry about it dripping on the oven while baking. I used less sugar, about 2 1/3 cups instead of 3 and it was perfect! This is our new favorite!

For a light, fresh dessert that is easy, this is it. Good way to use up fresh strawberries. Better than ice cream.

This is obviously a comfort food like Mac & Cheese. Good gravy makes it. If your gravy isn't good, the dish will suffer.

Maryland Crab Cakes II

Reviewed: Jun. 9, 2009
This recipe didn't do it for me. The flavor was fine, and I left it lumpy as was recommended, but the cakes (patties) did not hold together and was like plopping chunky cooky dough onto the baking sheet, then working to make each plop hold together to resemble a crab cake. I think it was too lumpy, but even mixing it better did not deliver better results. A lot of work and costly for it not to turn out appealing.

Sweet Potato Potato Salad

Yum Yum! I made this and no one even knew it had sweet potato in it. I also added a dash of dill weed, sweet pickle relish, fresh chopped cilantro and 2 diced fresh tomatoes. It was fresh and yummy!

Fresh Rhubarb Pie

Reviewed: Jun. 8, 2009
Made this yesterday and it was good plus super easy. Worked well to put the sugar/flour mix on the bottom and top instead of mixing it with the rhubarb. I would add a little more sugar next time. The butter is essential to keep the foaming down as it bakes. I put in red food color as another reader suggested, but I'll go easier on it next time as it was really red! I will use this recipe from now on. It is the best I have found.

Made this last night for dinner. So very good and easy I may not ever buy French Bread again! Followed the recipe exactly, 'cept didn't add water to the egg white and only applied it once. Makes 2 huge loaves!

Tangy Poppy Seed Fruit Salad

Reviewed: Jun. 2, 2009
This recipe should be titled "Fresh Pineapple" Salad. I took this to a family gathering & it was a hit. Used Fresh Pineapple, didn't have any fresh strawberries, but did use fresh oranges, red and green grapes sliced in half, & Kiwi. Did not add extra pineapple juice, used fresh squeezed lime with lime zest mixed with slightly heated honey, cooled before adding to fruit. Did not add Poppy seeds, didn't need it. This recipe is a keeper for a fresh non-typical fruit salad.

Famous Pork Chops

Reviewed: Jun. 1, 2009
Tender and flavorful. I used only 2 eggs and still had more than half left, so will only use one egg next time. Also, had lots of leftover Ritz crumbs, so will use 1/2 as much next time. I let it broil for about 5 minutes to improve the appearance and crunch factor.

Vegan Curried Rice

Reviewed: Jun. 1, 2009
Yes it's spicy, but it was really good, there are no complaints here. I thought it needed some veggies in it, so next time will add some chopped onion, peas and grated carrot, or anything else I can find. I did add more water then called for because it was gone before the rice was cooked all the way.

Black Bean And Corn Salad II

Reviewed: Jun. 1, 2009
I'd give this 10 stars if I could. The fresh lime juice makes it wonderful, plus I added some lime zest to it just for fun. Didn't have a red pepper, didn't feel like substituting a green pepper, so left it out, but it was so yummy I didn't miss it. Try this recipe, you will like it. Even my picky eater loved it.
