Cranberry Cheesecake

Reviewed: Dec. 28, 2009
Everybody loved this at at Christmas dinner. I baked it at the lower temperature suggested by another user, and it had no cracks anywhere. The texture was one of the creamiest that I've had.

Sherry's German Turkey

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2008
This turned out great- the meat nearly fell off the bone, and this is only my second turkey ever to make. I made it as written, except I accidentally forgot the celery. I had to make my own Soul Food seasoning (via the help of another member)using: 2 T ground pepper, 2 T garlic powder, 2 T onion powder, 2 T chili powder, 1 t dried parsley, 1 T paprika, 1 T salt, 1 t ground thyme, 1 pinch cayenne pepper, and 1 t celery seed. I took the suggestion of another review and thickened the juices with a bit of flour, some sour cream, and a generous amount of black pepper to make a really good gravy. My dad said this turkey was better than his mom's, and that's huge.

Ham and Pineapple Pinwheels

Reviewed: Jun. 22, 2008
These went over well at the tropical-themed party I brought them to. I made them according to the recipe, except I added a dash of nutmeg and red pepper to the cream cheese mixture. I give only four stars because the pineapple made the roles a bit hard to work with, and the finished product didn't hold a round shape very well.

Jalapeno Popper Spread

Reviewed: Mar. 16, 2008
Good, but not exceptional. After reading reviews, I used 4 oz of jalepenos and switched cheddar for parmesan cheese. I think it would be better with less mayo... it was a little overpowering. It was really easy to make.

Creamy Lemon Cake

Reviewed: May 5, 2007
Good, but not great. The lemon tasted artificial, and I really couldn't tell much difference between this recipe and simply making a plain lemon cake from a mix. It was very easy to make. The best part was the frosting. I doubt I'll make the cake again, but I may play with the frosting recipe on other cakes.

Baked Corn Casserole

Reviewed: Oct. 15, 2006
This recipe is wonderful, and is so easy to make! It has become a family favorite at Chrismas, and a great dish to take to potlucks. It still tastes great reheated the next day. One piece of advice- don't use fat free cream cheese, the texture didn't turn out right when I used it. Also, I noticed that the people who were complaining about the dish being too runny were also the ones who omitted the french-fried onions. These absorb a lot of liquid, so if you don't like onions, you will need to subsitute something in their place.

Spiced Cranberry Glazed Ham

Reviewed: Oct. 17, 2005
This recipe was so easy, and tasted wonderful! I followed the advice of the previous poster about adding extra spices, except that I used prepared mustard. I mixed up all the ingredients for the sauce and poured it on all at once over a ham steak and baked it. It made my whole apartment smell like a holiday.
