I made 9 bagels like the recipe said; they were a nice size for a breakfast but don't expect the giant bagels you get at bagel shops. Next time I won't press the dough and twirl it - my bagels ended up flat with a very wide hole since the dough does not rise much after shaping. I think I will gently stretch the dough ball to make 9 smaller bagels or 6 larger ones for a big breakfast. The flavor was just great; my husband hsn't stopped raving about them!
