About this Cook
I've been married since 1996 and have two children a daughter and a son. I really love to cook, but hate deciding what to cook which is why I'm an allrecipes addict. :) Cooking for large gatherings and holiday cooking are my favorites. I also love experimenting with new ingredients and flavors.
My favorite things to cook
I adore baking but don't do it often since I'm likely to make too much stuff I shouldn't be eating...and then promptly eat it all. Temptation is evil. Holiday meals are my favorite to prepare since it's the one time I don't let myself worry about healthy eating and low calories.
My cooking tragedies
Shortly after I married, my husband said he'd like some corned beef. I had never even tasted corned beef, let alone cooked it. Without the benefit of internet access back then, I promptly dug into the task with no information. I baked the corned beef in the oven and served it with mashed potatoes and a veggie side dish. Boy, was I clueless! (He was thinking of the Irish boiled dinner like his mom made.) It was the toughest, chewiest peice of meat I had ever had. I thought he was crazy for liking corned beef! Thankfully, I've since learned how to cook it. :)

Amaretto Sweet and Sour
So refreshing! I used to make Amaretto Sours from a recipe out of a bartenders guide that didn't include the O.J. but this version is much better and I'll be using it from now on. Thanks!

Shiitake Scallopine
Elegant vegan dish fit for company. Made exactly as stated and I felt the ratios were well balanced. Thanks!

Lemony Garlic Shrimp with Pasta
This needs a lot more flavor to be a good recipe. As is, there's way too many noodles and not much else. The butter, the wine, even the hot pepper aspect gets lost. I'm sorry I didn't enjoy this as much as others who have tried it, but I couldn't justify any higher rating on something so bland. It takes a lot to get my family to not like shrimp dishes, but this did it.
