About this Cook
I'm a school teacher who also works in the evenings. This leaves little time to cook dinners and pack lunches for myself and my boyfriend. We both dislike fast food and will not use convenience/prepackages foods. I am always looking for new ways morph lefovers into lunches, and for great big batch cooking ideas.
My favorite things to cook
I love canning anything that I have picked either from my garden or fresh from a local farmers market. Soups, jams, pickles, tomatoes, green beans. There is such a satisfaction in looking into the pantry and seeing beautiful jars of veggies and fruits.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Again, canning. I have memories of sitting on my granny's front porch and stringing beans or pitting cherries for hours. Of course there are always the continued traditions of holiday baking and we NEVER go without oyster stew on Christmas eve!
My cooking triumphs
Anytime someone enjoys something that I have prepared brings me joy.
My cooking tragedies
Pepper Jelly that I overcooked which came out more like pepper taffy!

Slow Cooker Mussaman Curry
We loved this. The flavor is very mild - not at all spicey. Worked wonderfuly with a peanut noodle dish and a super spicey cucumber salad. I didn't peel the potatoes before chunking them up which helped them hold up to the long cooking process. This will be a go to meal on busy weeknights.

Refried Beans Without the Refry
Easy, Tasty, Healthy, Economical! I add two jalapenos as we like things HOT. Awesome!

Butterbeer
This recipe was WAY too sweet for my taste. I made it with ginger beer rather than the cream soda, and LOVED it.
