I am in the military, so it is cool for me to do my own cooking. The guys on the boat do the best that they can, but nothing beats a good home cooked meal. I am big on grilling and doing football parties. I also enjoy baking mainly because I have a sweet tooth.
My favorite things to cook
Anything itailian, olive oil is great to cook with. I am pretty handy at grilling as I stated before, but I love kabobs... veggies and meat with a sauce is great. The party mix is basically finger foods and wings with my own hot sauce.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Growing up I used to help my great grandmother cook, we would make home made pizza every saturday. She has been huge influence on my cooking style, and the fact that she cooked meals up til 100 years is amazing. Since i am in the Navy, family meals are few and far inbetween, but holiday's are big for me to try and get home for.
My cooking triumphs
I have a couple really good ones, but I still don't have good names for them. I personally like my shrimp on the grille, it has a spicy and sweet kick to it.
My cooking tragedies
The last thing I tried to make was peanut brittle, I used to make it all the time in high school, but that was the last time I made it, funny how a simple recipe was hard to make after not doing it for so long.
