About this Cook
My favorite family cooking traditions
My Mother is from the Netherlands so I think my creativity comes from her. I just returned from a trip to visit there 9/25/08 and learned so much about the fresh ways to prepare food using predominantly all fresh ingredients and lots and lots of vegetables. Meat is not a main food group for them. I am already applying a healthier aspect to my cooking. I also learned a lot from my paternal grandmother in the ways to modify everyday staples and common dishes which I believe helped me to improve and expand our overall culinary experience. Spices are my definitely friend!

Banana Pancakes I
Both guinea pigs in my house liked them a lot - I can't say as I did not have any. I added vanilla as recommended and a sprinkle of cinnamon to each pancake before the initial flip. The recipe as stated made 10 medium pancakes. We'll see if they reheat well.

Chicken and Bow Tie Pasta
We used peas instead of broccoli but one thought there wasn't enough sauce - the other thought there was too much pasts (which translates too nor enough sauce). I would season the chicken more while cooking. We cubed instead of shredding. Second day even better - thanks for a good stick to your ribs meal! Makes tons!!

Home-Made Cream of Chicken Soup
I used it to "help" the Weight Watchers soup recipe to be more tolerable and this was wonderful. It enriched a basic calorie concerned recipe a lot and was tasty on it's own too. Thanks much Holly!!
