About this Cook
I'm not an expert,I just love to cook. I have a collection of cookbooks and try new recipes whenever I can.
My favorite things to cook
I love desserts and I have the waistline to prove it! My co-workers are constantly asking me to bake a batch of cookies. During the holidays,I bake about a dozen loaves of sweet potato bread to give as gifts and I always get requests for more.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mother taught me to cook. She thought biscuit making was something every southern woman should know so that was my first cooking lession.
My cooking triumphs
My stepmother is extremely hard to impress. One night I invited her and my father to dinner and served a spicy shrimp/pasta casserole, crab cakes, and cheddar garlic biscuits. She still raves about it to this day.
My cooking tragedies
My first Christmas dinner was a complete fiasco. The turkey was so dry it crunched and the stuffing had more salt in it than the Dead Sea. After dinner,Pepto Bismol was had by all.

Coconut Pecan Frosting I
I am a die hard coconut hater from way back and I can barely tolerate pecans but this frosting is excellent. I used it on Dark Chocolate Cake II from Allrecipes. I usually tweak a recipe a little but this I made exactly as directed and it turn out great. This recipe has earned a permenant spot in my collection.

Cheesecake Topped Brownies
These are the world's most decadent brownies! I used the fudgiest brownie mix I could find and topped them with a bittersweet chocolate ganache. I cut them into twelve large squares and took them to the local farmers' market. I sold out in record time and got requests for more the following week.

Sweet Potato Cake
Cake turned out light, moist, and delicious. I didn't have dark brown sugar on hand so I used light brown. Couldn't find the allspice so I used nutmeg instead. I increased the amount of sweet potatoes to 1 1/2 cups and added a cup of sour cream for extra moistness. I frosted the layers with cream cheese frosting. This cake has the perfect texture with just the right level of spice. This one's a keeper.
