Apple Pie by Grandma Ople

My photo of the pie looks much better than the pie actually tasted. Served for Thanksgiving and not one compliment was heard. It is not that this was bad, it just wasn't good.

Blueberry Crumb Pie

Reviewed: Sep. 21, 2009
Very good. Used 6 c. frozen/thawed blueberries and added 2 Tbs. corn startch. Only used 1/2 of the topping, otherwise it is too hard to cut a slice without the entire top caving in. You'll know what I am talking about when you go to slice a piece. Oh, and don't forget the ice cream.

Slow Cooker Beef Stew I

Reviewed: Oct. 5, 2008
Stew is one of those recipes that just keeps growing until you find out it is too much to safely fit your slow cooker. I baked everything for 3 1/2 hours (covered) at 375. I added onion and corn to the recipe. Pretty tasty stew.

Blueberry Dump Cake

Reviewed: Aug. 24, 2008
Very. very tastey. Here are the changes that I made with the recipe...I didn't have a yellow cake mix so I used a lemon cake mix. Many blueberry recipes include lemon juice, so I figured this would be alright. It tasted fabulous! I can't imagine it without the lemon cake mix. Also, several of the reviews on this recipe complained about the topping so instead of melting the butter, I used my food processor and cut cold butter into the mix. That way it would be evenly distributed. Instead of a 9x13 pan, I used 2 glass pie plates and divided the ingredients equally.

Never Fail Applesauce Spice Cake

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2007
Very moist and tasty. Instead of using a 9 x 13 pan, I filled 6 individual bundt pans plus 6 cupcakes and baked for about 20 minutes (till toothpick came out clean). I served this on Thanksgiving. See the photo of how the little cakes were decorated.

Tasty Green Bean Casserole

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2007
This is a keeper!!! My only change was to triple the recipe and added the cheese to the sauce and then mixed in the beans. This still easily fit a 9 x 13 pan. I predict that this recipe will be a big hit in the future. The sauce would work well with all kinds of veggies or potatoes.

Autumn Cheesecake

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2007
Very, very good! I followed the recipe as written. Used 3 Fuji apples thinly sliced. The only thing I would change is to chop the apples instead of slice so that it is easier to cut the cake. The apple slices tend to move when you are slicing.

Mom's Zucchini Bread

This is really, really good! After reading other reviews, I decided on the following changes. I replaced 1/2 of the oil with a 1/2 c. of mashed banana. I used 1 c. white and 1 c. brown sugar and 3 c. zucchini. This is by far the tastiest bread I have ever had. Try it and you'll agree!

I followed the others suggestions and used 2 c, flour and used 2 c. chocolate chips and slso lined the pan with foil. After cooling, I cut the bars into 1"x1" pieces. Making them bite size, they were neat & easy to eat. You could have several and not feel so guilty.

Chocolate Praline Layer Cake

Reviewed: Mar. 14, 2007
The absolute BEST cake ever! Fun fact...this cake has a total of 7,128 calories of which 4,320 are fat calories. A serving size is 1/24 of the cake and is 297 calories. I would like to know who can cut a serving piece that tiny. A normal serving piece would be 1/12. The moral here is that life is too short so why not enjoy a big slice!

Chocolate Eclair Dessert

Reviewed: Feb. 24, 2007
Outstanding! You will definately need 3 packages of graham crackers to do the three layers as described. I use a box of French vanilla and a box of cheesecake pudding. For the frosting, I used a recipe from this site that is no longer available. It was a chocolate sauce from Bays Chick. The recipe is as follows: 1/3 c. cocoa (I used Ghirardelli unsweetened cocoa), 1 c. sugar, 1 stick butter, 1/4 c. milk. Bring to a boil for 1 minute. Remove from heat and add 1 tsp. vanilla. Cool completely. It thickens nicely and tastes absolutely fabulous! This frosting makes this dessert out of this world!!
