About this Cook
My favorite things to cook
No favorites, I just like to try out new things every once in a while. Once I'm confident enough in my ability to make a recipe well, I add changes to it to suit my own tastes.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Every New Year, my mom used to bake waffles. Light waffles, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. I can still remember the smell of waffles hanging inside the house. Now that both my parents passed on, I hope to continue this tradition for years to come.
My cooking triumphs
Any new recipe that ends up tasting amazing is a cooking triumph for me, although I'm proud of the "vitello tonato" I made for Christmas, which tasted just like in the restaurant.
My cooking tragedies
I love Asian food and often make nasi goreng. I've made it numerous times before, but last year I somehow managed to burn all the meat and vegetables inside the dish while I never left the stove. They were totally black and I could throw the dish away.

Raisin Apple Muffins
I've made the muffins (the recipe yielded 12 medium sized muffins) exactly as described, and they turned out great, they were gone in two days! I got nothing but compliments. The muffins were moist, tender and fluffy. I'm going to make these again today!

Chocolate Chip Banana Muffins
These were yummy! I took a batch of these to work as a birthday treat and all of the muffins were gone before lunch! This is a great way to use overripe bananas, and the combo of banana/chocolate is just right. I didn't have yoghurt at hand, so I used milk instead.

Wiener Schnitzel
This tasted just like the original Wiener Schnitzel I have enjoyed so many times during my childhood vacations in Austria! I followed the instructions exactly, using bread crumbs from a package my aunt brought home from her vacation in Austria, and the schnitzels turned out golden brown and crisp. A bit of lemon juice sprinkled over the schnitzels finished the recipe.
