My brother met a kiwi girl and married her, eventually moving to New Zealand. On one of my trips to visit him, I met the man who would become my husband. So I moved to New Zealand and share a home with him and our two dogs, a toy poodle named Jester (and boy does he make us laugh) and a standard poodle/Bouvier cross named Toby.
My favorite things to cook
My husband does most of our every day cooking; I mainly stick to desserts. My very favourite dessert is a chocolate cheesecake which has a dark chocolate layer and a milk chocolate layer. I love cheesecake and this is the best I've ever had - and it's extremely easy to make!
My favorite family cooking traditions
With six kids in the family, my mom's method of cooking meant making a little food go a long way. Any "main course" I know how to cook, I can only make in huge quantites. . .which is one reason my husband does the cooking for just the two of us.
My cooking triumphs
I am best known for my chocolate chip cookies. It's only the regular old Nestle Tollhouse recipe I use, but the secret is in the timing.
My cooking tragedies
The worst thing I ever made (or tried to make) was spaghetti when I was about 10 or so. We didn't have any spaghetti sauce, so my brother and I thought tomato paste would be just as good. The result was so bad that not even the dog would eat it.
