I'm 23, a mommy, and learned to cook from my dad. He is an awesome cook but a little too impatient to submit any of his stuff on the computer. That's why i am here.
My favorite things to cook
I love pastas and sauces. Seafood is another fav. Also have become an expert on steaks. Chili. Anything with lots of veggies too. I am not a baker though. Sweets aren't my thing. I enjoy making dips and soups a lot too.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My dad's best is Southern vinegar-style BBQ chicken on an open fire pit. He bathes and cooks the chicken all day and the smell is to die for - let alone the taste. He has been my inspiration.
My cooking triumphs
Finally have mastered the perfect steak. My favorite meat cut is the Delmonico (ribeye). My dad just taught me a few years ago that the key to making any steak tender is to let it rise to room temperature before you throw it on the grill. And letting it rest saves the juiciness of it. (is juiciness a word?)
My cooking tragedies
Not great with heat and dairy. I tend to let things curdle or separate. I have gotten quite good at a simple homemade alfredo sauce though.
