Spaetzle I

Reviewed: Jan. 12, 2009
Thank you so much, Rhonda, for this simple Spaetzle recipe! It is very good and very easy. I can't imagine, though, doing this without a "ricer"! I always wondered what I would eventually use that ricer for that I bought so cheap!! ;) Thanks again!

Light Wheat Rolls

Reviewed: Dec. 24, 2008
Well, can I give these 4 1/2 stars?? They were just OK as rolls, but they made AWESOME cinnamon rolls!! I cut the dough in half and made half rolls and half cinnamon rolls. As the sweeter version, they stayed so nice and soft and didn't dry out when they cooled down (a BIG pet peeve of mine). I just rolled out the dough, smothered it with a light layer of softened butter and sprinkled on brown sugar and cinnamon. Yummy!! My 11 year old son is the non-official "cinnamon roll" taster in our family and he loved these!

Big Soft Ginger Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 24, 2008
Boy, these 5 star ratings are getting kind of boring!! LOL! Honestly, these deserve all "the best" ratings! I have to admit that I did substitute brown sugar for the white (thought they would be even more moist), but other than that, stayed with the recipe. I felt the spices were right on and they turned out nice and spicy. Would highly recommend these!

Fabulous, soul-warming soup! Love it! It's very filling and is beautiful for the LONG, DARK days of winter! (and for all other days, too!!) In my opinion, this does not need any tweeking; make as directed. Try it!! You won't be disappointed!!

Chocolate Cappuccino Cheesecake

Reviewed: Dec. 12, 2008
I thought this cheesecake was really delicious and full of flavor, but nothing extraordinary. In my opinion, the crust was a little "thin", therefore, if I did make it again, I would double that, for sure. I made the cake exactly as instructed. Everybody went crazy for it, but a little part of me wished I had just stuck to my original New York style cheesecake.

Ninety Minute Cinnamon Rolls

Reviewed: Nov. 11, 2008
Wow! I am SOOOO glad I tried this recipe!! I have been making the "clone" off of this site, but have never really been completely satisfied with that recipe (although, my son would disagree!). These were just what I wanted--soft and light. I made them exactly as directed, although I did need a little more flour than the recipe called for. Plus, they don't take nearly as long as the other recipes. Thank you a hundred times over for this one!!

German Apple Cake I

Wonderful! Are you supposed to wait for this to cool before you cut into it and eat it?! Well, my family couldn't wait that long! I made exactly as written and went ahead and topped it with Naples34102 suggested "sauce"! Scrumptuous! I was licking the spatula from the sauce and would have licked the pan I cooked it in, if I could have gotten my face in there!! Wonderful recipe! Thank you Barbara! :)

Roast Sticky Chicken-Rotisserie Style

Reviewed: Sep. 29, 2008
Wow! Fantastic! Divine! What other adjectives can I use to describe this delectible, finger-lickin' good chicken? I prepared it last night and let it sit all night in the fridge with the "rub" on. I baked it for about 5 1/2 hours and it was just beautiful! My husband was raving with every bite! He likes his whole chicken really well baked; he doesn't like it to be "wet" (juicy) inside. This was just right; it was very well baked, but was by no means dried out. It was really perfect. I can see serving this for guests. It was such a simple recipe-just requires a little preparation; it's not something you can just think about and bake. But, how does the saying go? "Best things come to those who wait"!! Thanks a million for this one!

Pumpkin Roll II

Reviewed: Sep. 27, 2008
What a beautiful dessert! I was a little nervous---when I spread the icing on, it looked a little thin (like I needed more). I went ahead and rolled it and tried to roll it as tight as I could. I couldn't wait to see what it looked like, so I cut the end off. I was dissapointed! It looked so whimpy! I put it in the fridge and let it sit overnight. The next day when we had guests over, I cut into it and it had "filled out" overnight! It was so perfect; I couldn't have hoped for it to look any nicer! And the taste had also developed, as well. Thank you so much for a beautiful and easy sweet!!

Clone of a Cinnabon

Reviewed: Sep. 27, 2008
Well, I wouldn't say these were out of this world, but they are good. I have made these numerous times and always have a problem with them drying out if we don't eat them IMMEDIATELY out of the oven; maybe that's the nature of them? Anyway, my 11-year old son requests these all the time and when I make them, he will eat them until he is blue in the face! They freeze fantastically! After you cut them into individual rolls, place on a cookie sheet in a single layer, freeze them then place into freezer bags for later enjoyment! I think the amount of cinnamon is right on; I can't imagine any less like some have suggested; I guess it's just a matter of personal preference! Thank you for this recipe.

Buttermilk Pancakes I

Reviewed: Sep. 27, 2008
All I can say is that I am SO greatful for this recipe! We can't buy boxed "baking mix" here, so I was forced to find a recipe like this one. Even if/when we move back to the states, I will still make my pancakes using this recipe. Now, if I could only get REAL maple syrup here!! (Have to use imitation maple extract and make a "mock" maple syrup! Oh well, it's better than nothing, right?!!)

Crispy and Creamy Doughnuts

Reviewed: Sep. 27, 2008
These are so good! I wouldn't say they are comparable to the chain-version; although my husband says that these are a hundred times better! These have more "substance" than those do. They really take care of that doughnut craving we get occassionally since we don't have access to doughnuts here in Serbia. They are really "rich", though and I don't know how anyone could eat more than two at one time!! Great! Thank you for these!

Zucchini Brownies

This is a "fun" recipe--everytime I serve these, it is so entertaining to see people try and figure out what is in them! They are really good and moist! I like making them for people here in Serbia because noone has ever heard of using zucchini in such a different way!
