Oatmeal Pancakes II

Reviewed: Jul. 8, 2009
Scrumptious, divine, delectable...the list goes on and on! These are wonderful! I made exactly as written and they resulted in a lovely fluffy and very gratifying pancake. I love the fact that they have just a hint of oatmeal flavor! Thank you so much for this champion of pancakes!!

Whole Wheat Pancakes

Reviewed: Jul. 2, 2009
Really good pancakes! I found the batter to be a little too runny, so next time, I would cut back on the buttermilk a little. Also, I'm not sure why, but the pancakes were pretty flat. Otherwise, these were extremly tasty and I didn't feel quite so guilty eating them knowing they were made with WW flour and wheat germ! Lovely texture. I just might make this my new pancake recipe! Thank you, Jen for sharing this one!

Cherry Pie IV

Reviewed: Jun. 15, 2009
Wow! Perfect cherry pie! I followed the filling part and found it to be right on in terms of sweetness and thickness. I am lucky in that sour cherries are at their peak right now, so I used one kilo of fresh cherries. I added the almond extract and thought I had made a big mistake; it was so "extract-y" tasting, but luckily, it all combined lovely once it baked and the true sour cherry flavor came through. I used the recipe for "Butter Flaky Pie Crust" from this sight instead of the one listed for this recipe (personal preference) and even made a lattice top! It was beautiful and tasted as good as it looked. I am truly happy with this recipe and it made my 11-year old super happy on his last day of school before summer break! Thank you, Kenan!

Butter Flaky Pie Crust

Reviewed: Jun. 15, 2009
Thank you a thousand times over for this fabulous recipe! This was my first attempt ever to make a pie crust. I was very careful not to overwork the dough and to keep the butter and the water ice cold. I was pretty paranoid during the whole process, but it turned out super flakey and light! Had this not turned out, it could have turned me off of ever trying to make pie crust again, but thank goodness it came through for me and just might have opened up a whole new can of worms--now, I'm thinking of sugar cream pie, raspberry pie, apple... Thank you, Dana!

Quick and Easy Pizza Crust

Reviewed: May 28, 2009
THE BEST!!! I can't express enough how happy I am that I tried this recipe!! The convenience of it can't be beat! I always used to use another recipe on here for pizza crust and always had to wait for it to rise which prevented us from having pizza last minute. This one, however, is so quick and easy! I doubled the recipe (which doubled nicely) and used all-purpose flour (didn't have bread flour). I am hooked and there will be no need to look at any other pizza crust recipe; this is IT!! Thank you so much!

Beat and Bake Orange Cake

Reviewed: Apr. 24, 2009
What a delightful cake!!! I "upped" the orange zest in the cake part to heaping tablespoon and the same amount for the frosting. I would have to say that even a little more zest in the cake portion would not be overpowering. It is such a beautiful "sun-shiny" cake---it just screams HOT SUMMER DAY!! I refrigerated mine and served it slightly cold--very refreshing! I am an orange cake fan and this one has really won me over! Will make it again and again!! Thank you so much!

Brooke's Best Bombshell Brownies

Reviewed: Mar. 30, 2009
I hope I am done shaking from my sugar high enough to write this review! WOW, are these RICH!!! I have to say that I have never been able to taste the richness of butter in a brownie recipe before like I did in this recipe! Don't get me wrong, it's wonderful, but just so darn rich! I never thought I would complain about the "richness" of a brownie before; what's wrong with me??!! Anyway, good, dense brownie; not for the lightweight brownie lover! Slightly too sweet; thanks for sharing this with us!

Fluffy Whole Wheat Biscuits

Reviewed: Mar. 16, 2009
These were good! I was surprised at how quickly I was able to make them. I would have given this 5 stars, but as I ate them, I noticed a slight "tingly" sensation on my tongue; the only reason I could think of was because of the 4 teaspoons of baking powder. I would make these again; maybe if I ate them with something (instead of just butter and jam) I wouldn't notice the tingle! Thank you for sharing!

Restaurant-Style Coleslaw I

Reviewed: Mar. 6, 2009
Really nice and creamy coleslaw. I didn't add as much sugar as called for (personal preference). We don't have "slaw mix" over here, so I just used grated cabbage--no big deal. It was nicely seasoned. Thanks for this recipe; would make again.

Pan Fried Whole Trout

Reviewed: Mar. 6, 2009
I liked this. It didn't lend anything to the overall flavor of the fish, but the skin did have a nice crunch to it, thanks to the cornmeal. Good, but nothing special. I would do this again, maybe and add a few more spices to it. Thank you for sharing!!

Cathy's Banana Bread

Reviewed: Feb. 23, 2009
Heavenly!! This is a wonderfully moist bread--just what I had a craving for! I did as someone suggested and instead of all white sugar, I replaced it with 1 cup of brown and the other 1/3 cup with white. I would highly recommend this delicious bread. Thank you so much, Cathy!!

Naan

Reviewed: Feb. 9, 2009
This made a terrific flatbread; but to call it "Naan" is stretching it a bit. I ended up only using 3 1/2 cups of flour and it was enough. I would make this again (minus the garlic), but to serve with the Serbian Cevapcici recipe (minus the pork) from this site. Now THATS a good combination!! Thanks for sharing the recipe!

Cajun Spice Mix

Reviewed: Feb. 4, 2009
Very nice flavor! I put some on chicken wings and baked them until they were sticky. Really good stuff! I liked the fact that the ingredients were things that you would normally keep on hand; nothing fancy. Will use this spice mix alot from now on. Thank you so much!!

Orange Loaf

Reviewed: Feb. 4, 2009
I had really high hopes for this. The smell while it was baking was intoxicating; pure heaven. Well, it turned out drier than I had hoped. I would have thought with the syrup and all it would have been super moist. I was even light-handed on the blending of wet with dry ingredients. Still, too dry for my liking. I will say that the orange flavor was dead-on perfect. I think I will continue to search for that perfect moist orange loaf. Thank you for sharing.

Ranch Dressing II

I thought the flavor was right on. However, for a dressing, I found it rather on the thick side. Next time I would add a little buttermilk to make it thinner. Overall, great flavor! Thanks.

Roasted Brussels Sprouts

Reviewed: Jan. 26, 2009
Fantastic! I am a huge fan of brussel sprouts and usually eat them with balsalmic vinegar and olive oil on them, but these were awesome! Very simple. I did par-boil them a minute or two before, then roasted them 20-25 minutes. Thank you for this simple, yet wonderful recipe!

Spaetzle I

Thank you so much, Rhonda, for this simple Spaetzle recipe! It is very good and very easy. I can't imagine, though, doing this without a "ricer"! I always wondered what I would eventually use that ricer for that I bought so cheap!! ;) Thanks again!

Light Wheat Rolls

Reviewed: Dec. 24, 2008
Well, can I give these 4 1/2 stars?? They were just OK as rolls, but they made AWESOME cinnamon rolls!! I cut the dough in half and made half rolls and half cinnamon rolls. As the sweeter version, they stayed so nice and soft and didn't dry out when they cooled down (a BIG pet peeve of mine). I just rolled out the dough, smothered it with a light layer of softened butter and sprinkled on brown sugar and cinnamon. Yummy!! My 11 year old son is the non-official "cinnamon roll" taster in our family and he loved these!

Big Soft Ginger Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 24, 2008
Boy, these 5 star ratings are getting kind of boring!! LOL! Honestly, these deserve all "the best" ratings! I have to admit that I did substitute brown sugar for the white (thought they would be even more moist), but other than that, stayed with the recipe. I felt the spices were right on and they turned out nice and spicy. Would highly recommend these!
