Glorious Sponge Cake
About this Cook
Personal Trainer in Frisco, Texas. When my child is out of the house and in college, I plan to open a bakery.
My favorite things to cook
I love sweets. Cakes, cookies, pies, you name it, I make it!
My favorite family cooking traditions
As a child, Christmas was a major holiday for baking. We spent hours in the kitchen making dozens and dozens of cookies for gifts and such. I still follow that same tradition today. Almost everyone I know receives some type of treat from me at Christmas. I usually spend about three days baking non-stop! (Thank goodness for double ovens.)
My cooking triumphs
I'm not sure that I've had one just yet. I'm still young (enough) and have plenty of time to create that award winning recipe.
My cooking tragedies
There is just not enough room here! Luckily, I've never caught anything on fire. A few burned dishes here and there, though.

Glorious Sponge Cake
A fantastic recipe. This was my first sponge cake, and I think it came out perfect. (We'll see what the family says tomorrow. I sneaked an early taste!) I used a teaspoon of lemon juice (not the fake stuff), and it gave just a slight lemon taste. Not to overwhelming, just right. The cake is fluffy, beautiful in color, and melt in your mouth delicious!

Amaretto Cake
I made this for a school bake sale/auction; two cakes are made, one for sample, one for sale. This was the most popular cake there (take that boring pineapple upside down cake!). Everyone loved it and asked for the recipe. Add an almond butercream icing (or the Almond Chocolate sold in stores) and it's out of this world! Thanks ever so much.

Banana Bread I
A nice, easy banana bread recipe. I did follow the suggestions to add vanilla. I took it one step further the second time around and added cinnamon and nutmeg. Warm from the oven with butter, YUM!
