I was curious how this would turn out because the batter is very thick and I had to work a little to spread it out in the 9x13 pan. But it turned out perfectly, and it's a nice quick recipe to make with the kids. It's Day 3 and the bars seem to taste better than before. Will probably make this again for the kids. Also, I just chopped up a bunch of fun-size Snickers...it's not an exact science. :) I did pre-spray the pan just because I hate scrubbing out a pan! Worked just fine.

3.5 stars. Added cinnamon for some flavor. Had to dump first batch of liquids because the melted shortening reacted with the milk and eggs and I ended up with lots of waxen-like little clumps in milk. I must have had the shortening too warm and the milk cool. Remade it with 2t oil instead and worked better. Still nothing to write home about, prefer the boxed mixes.

Taste and appearance was fun fot 4th of July picnic, but it was gummy and fell apart. It wasn't one to slice off a piece and walk around with. Fun for kids, though. Probably wouldn't make this recipe "as is" again.
