About this Cook
I'm a stay-at-home, homeschooling mommy of a sweet little boy born in 2002 and a baby girl born in 2006. I LOVE to cook, a passion that I inherited from my late father. I love trying new recipes. I absolutely love to entertain, cook a huge, delicious meal for family and friends, and I love to host holiday parties and dinners!
My favorite things to cook
Mexican dishes, Italian dishes, comfort foods, cakes, candies, desserts, anything related to a huge Holiday meal!
My favorite family cooking traditions
My dad was the cook of the family. He always prepared big, delicious meals on the weekends and had my sister and her husband, and me and my husband over to eat. He did the Holiday meals as well. Every Christmas Eve, he would make tons of yummy snack-type foods, and we'd all stay up eating, playing games, and waiting to open our gifts on Christmas morning. Later on, my sister and I's husbands joined us in the tradition. I carry on that tradition with my family.
My cooking triumphs
Taking over the cooking of the Holiday meals and birthday meals, get-togethers, cookouts, etc., since my dad passed away.
My cooking tragedies
One of my first Thanksgivings as a married woman (I got married in '99, at the age of 20), I made a beautiful chocolate chip cheesecake to take to my parent's house. Everyone commented on how delicious it looked. When it came time for dessert, I was so excited for everyone to try my pie. However, when I cut into it, the entire middle was completely raw! It was SOUP. I was heartbroken. To make me feel better, my sweet husband cut around the runny part, and everyone had the outside portion of the cheesecake.

Easy Texas Chili
This is good stuff! I made the following modifications: used only 1/2 of an onion, 1/2 of a green pepper, omitted the beans, and used one 32 oz can each of crushed tomatoes and tomato sauce, and cut the chili powder down to 1/4 cup. I browned the meat, onion, and pepper, then mixed everything up in the slow cooker and let it simmer all day. It was great. I'll be using leftovers tomorrow night to make Frito chili pies!

Slow Cooker Italian Beef for Sandwiches
I know I am completely in the minority here, but I did not like this at all. The pepper was so overpowering, and the meat just did not have a good taste. I will stick to my go-to french dip recipe from this site.
