Burrito Pie

Reviewed: Dec. 12, 2009
I made this for a group of 6 (3 being guys w/very large appetites) and there was still PLENTY leftover. It was really, really good though! I omitted the diced tomatoes and olives because some people are not a fan and doubled the amount of cheese. Also (and I think this is what knocked it out of the park), I added in crushed doritos between tortilla layers. It added in a great flavor & also a crunchy texture. Oh, I also opted to serve my onions raw on the side (as opposed to cooked into the meat), along with avocado, sour cream & green peppers. YUM!! Thank you for sharing!

Cinnamon Cookies II

Reviewed: Dec. 8, 2009
So good! The only change I made was to use and extra TBS of cinnamon & was very glad I did. These taste sort of like what you would get if a molasses cookie and a snickerdoodle had a baby. Thanks for sharing, my coworkers loved them!

Bacon, Lettuce and Tomato Bruschetta

Reviewed: Dec. 8, 2009
This was really good! I used small cubes of mozzarella cheese & omitted the lettuce (I forgot...it had been a long day); the only other change I made was to just lightly toast my bread and didn't brush it with olive oil because I was running seriously behind. People either loved it or hated it, but it had bacon in it so how could you not like it? ;)

Oatmeal Raisin Toffee Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 6, 2009
These were pretty good, but I wish I would have read the reviews first and subbed 1/2 of the butter for margarine. My cookies spread ALOT and aren't the prettiest finished product. However, the taste factor is there & I guess that's the most important part. Thanks for the recipe!

Brie Cheese Appetizer

This is perfect just as written. Made it for a holiday party and it was very popular and also liked it because it was different than the normal roll ups and dips. Thank you for sharing such an easy & tasty recipe!!!

Worlds Best Bacon Cheese Dip

Reviewed: Dec. 6, 2009
Wow, this is soooooo good! I was a little nervous about the lack of ingredients & was temtped to add in some pepper or garlic or something but was happy I left it alone. I did omit the cracker crumbs from the mix and only had 6.5 ounces of swiss & therefore added in a bit of parmesan as well. This was the hit of the night at the holiday party I went to. Thank you for sharing!!!

Italian Meatball Sandwich Casserole

Reviewed: Nov. 22, 2009
I had a large group of people to feed (and alot of big guys who love their meat & taters meals) & chose this as it was fairly cheap & easy. YUM!!! I did make a few slight revisions after reading some other reviews on here. First, I used 1/2 beef and 1/2 Italian sausage for my meatballs (that's how we make ours around here) and they turned out very yummy. Second, I didn't add the water to my sauce. Also, I lightly toasted the Italian bread once it was cubed & it really helped to spread the cheese mixture. In place of the mayo I opted for ricotta cheese - it may have been slightly greasy with the mayo and I was afraid it would overpower the rest of the dish. Both pans were GONE at the end of dinner...sooooo good. This is for sure some filling comfort food. Thank you for sharing!! :)

Pumpkin Pie Squares

Reviewed: Nov. 22, 2009
YUM! This is a great sub for pumpkin pie when you have to feed a crowd. Followed the directions exactly as stated, except doubled the crust per other reviewers advice and was very glad that I did because as written there is NO WAY it would have been enough. Everyone at dinner loved it! :)

Pasties II

Reviewed: Nov. 16, 2009
My mom asked me to print off this recipe for her, so that we could have these for dinner. She made the recipe exactly as stated and we LOVED them (and being from MI we know what we are doing when it comes to pastie consumption, lol). Her first batch came out a little dry, so she did glaze some milk over the dough for her 2nd and it came out much softer. The only complaint is that the amount of filling was WAY TOO MUCH compared to the amount of dough (almost double the filling needed). However, that just meant she had to make more pasties for us to eat, so it is not all that bad, haha. Thanks for sharing!!! :)

Bruschetta Chicken Bake

Reviewed: Nov. 5, 2009
Loved it! Okay, I really was going to stick to the orginal recipe, but had to deviate a bit. First, I didn't use canned tomatoes & instead just chopped up 2 large ones. Next, all I had was unflavored stuffing, so used that and added in just a whole can of chicken broth to it. Since my stuffing was unseasoned I did use an extra TBS of Italian seasoning that I mixed in with that, the tomatoes and 5 cloves of garlic (hey, I love the stuff). Following other reviews I omitted the salt entirely and instead chose to add in some fresh ground black pepper. After exactly 30 minutes dinner was ready and soooooo good. This is a great, inexpensive meal that I will totally make again. Thank you for sharing! :)

Italian Green Beans

Reviewed: Nov. 5, 2009
Loved them! Made them exactly as written with the exception of letting the dressing simmer for moment before adding in the green beans (as others suggested). Such a quick & easy way to jazz up green beans and they went perfectly with the Bruschetta Chicken I made from this site. Thank you for sharing!!

Baklava

Reviewed: Nov. 3, 2009
Ok, now I know why they charge so much for baklava at the restaurants, lol!! This recipe is AMAZING just as written, but I think I will never look at Phyllo dough the same way again because it was very taxing to work with. Though a bit time consuming, this is a wonderful creation and the directions were very thorough (thank you for that). I used pecans because that is what we had in the house and followed the instructions exactly as indicated. Everyone is raving about how good it is!! Thank you again for sharing!! :)

Roasted Butternut Squash and Garlic Lasagna

Reviewed: Oct. 13, 2009
This was a pretty good dish, but I think would have been sort of bland as is. I did add some nutmeg, a touch of white pepper, some roasted red pepper and walnuts. Oh, and I also used the good old fashioned boil them yourself noodles too. :) Thanks for sharing, it was for sure something different and interesting!

Sweet Potato Casserole IV

Reviewed: Oct. 11, 2009
This was a good recipe, but I have had better for sweet potatoe casserole. I only used 1/2 the amount of white sugar and for us that was PLENTY. As well, I will probably add some cinnamon and/or nutmeg to the mixture next time. Thanks for sharing! :)

Walnut Pumpkin Pie

Reviewed: Oct. 5, 2009
Awesome pumpkin pie! I too used a regular pastry crust and opted to cover it with tin foil a little more than halfway through baking to keep it from getting too brown. At first people were made that I would dare mess with pumpkin pie by adding walnuts, but one bite and everyone was sold. The brown sugar/walnut topping for sure made an excellent addition! :) Aside from using regular pie pastry, everything else was made as indicated in the directions. Loved it!

Chicken Cordon Bleu II

Everyone at dinner loved this chicken. I made the recipe exactly as stated, with the exception of 2 things. Didn't have whipping cream, so used 2% milk. Also, I did add probably closer to a cup of white white so that there was more sauce. Thanks for sharing this great recipe! :)

Avocado, Tomato and Mango Salsa

Very good! I planned on making this recipe exactly as indicated but my mango was funky, so subbed in a nectarine instead. Aside from that, followed the directions and it was great! Very tasty! :)
