About this Cook
I have been married for 14 years and have 3 wonderful children. They like my cooking, usually :), so I use them as my taste testers. If it passes with them, it will generally pass for everyone else.
My favorite things to cook
I LOVE to bake...sweet is my thing! I also like trying new recipes...often when I am making food for someone else...so I get nervous how it will turn out sometimes. So far, most things have turned out well.
My favorite family cooking traditions
We have made gingerbread people and sugar cookies for Thanksgiving and Christmas for about the last 2 years. Very fun. I always have lots of volunteers to help me in the kitchen. :)
My cooking triumphs
Making cinnamon rolls was a big accomplishment for me...and, recently, making homemade granola has been awesome!
My cooking tragedies
Making banana bread with no...bananas when I was in high school. :) And, I have made oatmeal cookies with no sugar. :) So, my family has been through it all. I now put all of my ingredients on one side of the counter and transfer them to the other side to ensure all ingredients are included in my food. :)

Mild Curry Powder
I thought it was very tasty and was relieved to find a make-your-own for this. I have purchased the jar kind...but don't think I'll be going back to that. I did add 1/8 tsp. of onion powder and 1/4 tsp. of cayenne (I like it spic-ay). :) Thank you so much for the recipe!!

Sugar Cookie Icing
This is a really great recipe. :) I agree with other reviews and used vanilla extract instead of almond extract...but, other than that, this icing lived up to its description. It did dry very nicely and was very easy to make. Thank you for sharing this recipe.

Urban Legend Chocolate Chip Cookies
These cookies are fantastic! I made them as a thank you gift for my neighbors and they called right after eating one and said they were very yummy. The ground-up oats make a very nice difference from other chocolate chip cookies. I did have to bake them for 12 minutes instead of 6-8. For something different, I grease a 9-inch cake pan and spread cookie dough out in that and bake until golden brown--about 15 minutes or so--to make a giant cookie. Nice for birthday treats or thank you gifts. :O) Enjoy! Will DEFINITELY make these again!
