I'm a married mother of two and grandmother of two grandsons, ages 12 and 3. My kitchen is my favorite room in my house. I have a computer in my kitchen, a TV, and a sitting area, too. I guess you could say I live in my kitchen.
My favorite things to cook
Bread, Pastries,Brownies, Pasta, Soups, Chicken, Beef Barolo, Eggplant
My favorite family cooking traditions
Cooking with family. I grew up cooking with my mom. Now I cook and bake with my son and 12yr old grandson whenever I can. Sometimes, my grandson's friends even join us. We have a great time! Recently we all made home made ravioli. With 4 pre teen boys it was quite the adventure!
Every fall, we go apple picking together. Then we make huge batches of applesauce and dozens of pies.
My cooking triumphs
Learning to bake fancy French and Italian pastries and breads that both look beautiful and taste delicious.
My cooking tragedies
Many years ago, I was trying to impress a young man. He had heard that I made delicious pies so I decided to bake him an apple pie even though I was away at boarding school and had to use the school kitchen, where everythibg was in huge institutional sized containers. Without realizing it, I used salt instead of sugar in my pie. When I served it to him and some classmates, they all ooh'd and ahh'd at my beautiful, perfect looking pie. Then they began to eat. I wish now I had a picture of their faces! Needless to say, I was quite upset and embarrased!
