Best Big, Fat, Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookie

Reviewed: Aug. 31, 2009
This recipe by itself does not deserve a very good rating, because if followed as written, which I did, you will be sorely disappointed, which I was. My cookies turned out flat as pancakes. And I even refrigerated the dough for 2 hours before baking because it looked way too runny! And even though I greased the pan, they still stuck. So they looked funny, but they tasted alright. I think if I ever made these again, I would not melt the butter; I think this would keep them from spreading so badly.

Luscious Chicken Pot Pie

Reviewed: Nov. 17, 2008
Every time I try a new recipe, my husband rolls his eyes. This time, though, he was very pleasantly surprised! I got compliments all evening over this one. I did add a little milk to make it more creamy, and it does need salt! Used only 1 can mixed veggies, and 1 can each of corn and green beans. The Pillsbury pie crust makes this a masterpiece!

Pecan Pie Bars I

2 words: Big Mess! I am learning very quickly to read these reviews before attempting anything! These bars boiled over onto the bottom of the oven; it's a miracle the smoke alarms didn't go off! I will definitely be using a 9x13 pan next time instead. But they tasted great! Now I'm off to clean the oven...

Cracker Jack Cookies I

Yum! These are soo good! I did have to adjust the baking time and oven temp though. The first batch set off the smoke alarms! I think I finally got it right by the 3rd batch. 325 degrees for 9 minutes was about perfect. Oh, and these spread (a lot!) while baking, so make sure to space them plenty far apart! I added a bag of butterscotch chips instead of the nuts and mmmmmmmmm!

Tiramisu Layer Cake

Reviewed: May 14, 2006
I absolutely love anything coffee flavored so I loved this cake! I'd never had tiramisu before, let alone made it, so I don't know if it turned out how it was supposed to or not. But it was really good! Although my chocolate "curls" didn't work, I wound up with chocolate shavings. But it was still pretty. Maybe should've used a softer chocolate bar for the curls. Semi-sweet baking chocolate is too hard. And the frosting was sooo good!

Cheesy Potato Casserole

I'm not so sure my rating should count. I used light Miracle Whip for the mayo. It was like eating spoonsful of Miracle Whip! Do not use it unless you really really like it!

Chicken Cordon Bleu I

Reviewed: May 7, 2006
This was very good and fairly easy to make. I agree though with a previous reviewer that it could use more cheese inside. Mine turned out kinda dry. I didn't have the breadcrumbs, so I used Shake N Bake to sprinkle on top, and it tasted great!

Cheese and Pasta in a Pot

Reviewed: Nov. 7, 2005
This was okay, but the sour cream taste was a little over-powering. Other than the strong sour cream taste it was pretty good, but I don't know if it would be too dry without it. Also, after layering it all in the pan, I wished I had used a deeper one; it was a tight squeeze! I had to squash it all down because it makes a lot!

Monkey Bread II

Reviewed: Nov. 1, 2005
I'd give these more than 5 stars if possible! To easily coat the balls of dough, I drop a few at a time into the butter sugar mixture and scoop them out with a slotted spoon. Very easy and hardly any mess! And the cinnamon added to the dough makes it so much better than frozen bread dough! I can't recommend these enough; I'll never use any other recipe.

Simple Beef Stroganoff

Reviewed: Oct. 20, 2005
This overall was a very good dish, much like one out of a box. I did need to add some milk at the end to make it a little more moist; otherwise it would have been too dry. I also added a little more garlic powder and salt for some more flavor. But definitely an easy dish to make!

I actually didn't have graham cracker crumbs, so I used oreo cookie crumbs and they were delicious! Great to bring anywhere as a treat!

Gobble Up Granola Snacks

These were great! The list of ingredients calls for raisins, but the directions don't say to put them in, so I just put them in with the oats and cereal. Yum! I think I'll try with chocolate chips next time.

Golden Sponge Cake

Reviewed: Jul. 12, 2005
I admit, I always taste everything I make as soon as it's done to make sure it's good. But this cake definitely is better the next day as the recipe says! The filling is a little work to make, but turns out yummy. (Didn't taste like a Twinkie to me, but still good.) I even had enough to frost the top. Cutting a 9 by 13 cake in half lengthwise is not easy!! I think next time I will make 2 round cakes instead as previously suggested. That will make it a lot easier!

Lemon Drops

Reviewed: Jul. 1, 2005
These tasted okay, but didn't make even close to 48 like the recipe said. You do need to flatten the dough before baking or you will have balls instead of cookies. I only had to bake them for 7 minutes or they would've burned. The frosting definitely is a nice compliment to these. They wouldn't be near as good without. But the finished product was good!

Cream Filled Cupcakes

Reviewed: Jun. 9, 2005
I, too, used devil's food cake instead of making it from scratch. But if you do this, you will have leftover filling because this recipe makes 36 cupcakes and the cake mix makes 24. But I filled the cupcakes from the top and used the leftover filling and a flower tip to cover up the holes on the tops! They turned out very good and disappeared quickly!

Creamy Corn Soup

Reviewed: May 29, 2005
Wow, maybe I did something wrong, but this had a really strong garlic taste! My whole house smelled like garlic for the rest of the day. But good thing I love garlic! I added 4 small chopped red potatoes with the corn and cream cheese, brought to a boil, and then covered and simmered for 20 minutes. This softened the potatoes and melted the cream cheese. But remember to stir often or the roux will thicken on the bottom! I also used dried parsley and omitted the cayenne pepper. Will definitely make again!

Thirty Minute Yellow Cake

Reviewed: May 10, 2005
I used this recipe for the start of pineapple upside down cupcakes. Definitely could've been better. I ended up throwing away about half of them because they got moldy cause nobody really cared for them. I did substitute pineapple juice for the milk; maybe that's why they turned out kinda dry. I won't use this recipe again.
