About this Cook
I am currently completing my undergraduate degree in Dietetics at McGill University. Moving out and having to cook all my meals on my own while pursuing a food-related degree has forced me to regard food in a lot of different perspectives. I'm currently trying to strike a balance between food that is "real" (i.e. minimizing convenience foods) but quick, tasty but healthy, and of course also trying to grasp my Chinese roots.
My favorite things to cook
Creative salads, dinner, weekend breakfasts.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I am proud to say that at 21, I have already made four Thanksgiving turkeys in my lifetime.
My cooking triumphs
Any time a new recipe turns out (which, fortunately, is frequent), especially if I can also make it LOOK good.
My cooking tragedies
Sometimes, health and taste just don't mix--I recently failed miserably at trying to make whole wheat crepes, but fortunately quickly realized that I just needed to add more milk!

Cream Cheese Frosting II
I wasn't sure I had 4 cups of confectioner's sugar to begin with, and after reading the reviews that it can be too sweet I decided to add the sugar a cup at a time. A cup was all that I needed for a sweet, thick icing that still had a bit of a cheesy taste!

Apple, Carrot, Or Zucchini Cake
I made a version of this (3 cups of apple, 1 cup of carrot) into cupcakes (I made 24, but some of them were pretty small) with cream cheese frosting and they were oh-so-good. The cupcakes were moist and not too sweet. I think I'd try adding a little vanilla next time though.

Golden Potato Soup
This soup is chunky and VERY filling. It may have been because I was a bit liberal with my vegetable measurements, but for me it was not soupy enough so I had to add a bit more broth. Don't worry too much if it doesn't thicken right away, the cheese helps thicken it!
