About this Cook
I love to cook. Always have. I got a "Now you're cooking" set when I was 7 filled with cooking utensils and recipie cards and that was that, I was hooked. Growing up I would make dinner for my family about 3 times a week and now that I have a family of my own I'm cooking even more! I love it!
My favorite things to cook
hmmm....favorite thing to cook....I think it has got to be brownies, but that's because I can't get enough of the end product. My second favorite recipie to make is my dads recipie for macaroni salad. And that is because it reminds me of him.
My favorite family cooking traditions
We didn;t really have any....except for saint Lucia's day, when we would make gingerbread (not the cookies, actual bread, rice pudding, eggs of each persons choice and coffee for my mom and dad. My sisters and I would get up REALLY early in the morning to make breakfast, and then serve breakfast in bed and exchange gifts.
My cooking triumphs
I don't think I have ever made anything that I didn't think I could make in the first place.
My cooking tragedies
The people I used to babysit for had a double oven, the bottom they used for snack storage and the top was used for cooking. I accidentally turned the bottom oven on, and set the oven on fire. My other oops while babysitting at the same house, was I was heating some oil to make popcorn the good old fashion way, and the two kids got into a fight, and I turned around to tell them to knock it off and I hear "WHOOSHHH" and I yelled "GET OUT OF THE HOUSE NOWWW!!!!" and turned around to see the stove on fire. Quick reflexes were able to put the fire out with no harm done except to the pot. It's a wonder that they still wanted me to watch their children and cook for them.

Maple Roast Turkey and Gravy
I've made this the last two Thanksgiving and it is DELICIOUS!! IT cooks up so beautifully and is sweet, but not overly. Can't wait to Thanksgiving day this year! I usually brine my turkey the night before.

Easy Garlic Broiled Chicken
Wow! This was amazing!! We used Olive oil in place of the butter because of milk allergies in our family. It was delicious even with the substitution. I took others recommendations and baked it for 40 minutes at 375* in the sauce and then placed it on a cookie sheet (without the sauce) and broiled it for 10 minutes each side. Then I dipped it in the sauce, put it on a platter and sprinkled a little more parsley on it. We used the sauce to mix into the rice I served with it. So delicious! I'm glad this is in our monthly rotation!
