I have loved cooking since I was 6 years old. I am now 53 and live by myself. My greatest cooking influences my mother and grandmother.
My favorite things to cook
My favorite wintertime recipe is Hamburger Soup. Take 6-8 potatoes, peal and dice into small pieces, bundle of carrots, diced- boil them until almost tender, cook 1-2 lbs hamburger with oinions, place cooked hamburger into potatoescarrot mixture do not drain water. Add 1-2 cans of diced tomatoes, add chili powder to taste and add BV(a beef extract) to taste. Simmer for 30 minutes. There you have it-Hamburger Soup. It has been in my family for over 75 years. Enjoy. Its rally good on cold nights.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Going home for Christmas and visiting my grandma where she would make roast duck, dumlings and sauerkraut for me. I was in the USAF for 20 years and she would always have this meal for me.
My cooking triumphs
Pineapple Upside Down Cake in a Dutch Oven
My cooking tragedies
Cooking a Thanksgiving Turkey, but forgeting to turn oven on the right temperature. It took 10 hours to cook and it was only a 18 lb turkey
