Slow Cooker Lentil and Ham Soup

Great flavor! I threw in my ham bone as well. I slept in, so I cooked a half batch on high for 5 hours and everything was perfect!

Fresh Grapefruit Juice Smoothie

Great flavor! I love the addition of the honey, it really gives it that special something (I love honey!). I did have to substitute frozen strawberries for fresh, and pineapple yogurt for the strawberry banana. Wonderful, thanks!

Honey Glazed Ham

Reviewed: Apr. 12, 2009
Very tasty, with simple ingredients. I did cut the glaze ingredients in half, and since I didn't use a deep enough pan I had to dump some halfway through the cooking time because it was starting to overflow. Wonderful flavor though, thanks for a great recipe!

Old Fashioned Sugar Cookies II

Reviewed: Apr. 11, 2009
One of the best tasting sugar cookies I have tried; must be the cream :) Mine did not brown after about 15 minutes in the oven, and that pan was pretty crispy (couldn't get them off the pan without breaking birdy legs and umbrella handles), so I set my timer for 10 minutes and they were perfect. Didn't brown but did puff up really nicely, I don't like my sugar cookies too thin and crispy and these are the perfect combo of easy to travel but not rock hard. I had help from my 5-year old rolling and cutting, and we re-rolled enough times that by the last rolling there was quite a bit of extra flour in there! Still tender and good though. I did skip the icing this time because I had promised we could make paintbrush cookies; before baking, paint cookies with a mixture of an egg yolk, dash of water, and food coloring. Lots of fun but somewhat time consuming, good for rainy days! Then sprinkle with a little sugar and bake as usual. Next time I would like to try the icing though. I've never had a cookie recipe ask me to cut in the butter, so the texture seemed really weird; I had to work it a bit with my hands and then it rolled out smooth and perfect, easy to work with. Thanks for a great recipe!

Cola Burgers

Reviewed: Apr. 11, 2009
Great, juicy burger! I have a tendency to overmix my burgers but these stuck together very well and had a great flavor. I didn't have French dressing so I used Western instead. Topped with some home made onion rings and Sweet Baby Ray's BBQ sauce, awesome :)

Old Fashioned Onion Rings

Reviewed: Apr. 11, 2009
Crunchy and super tasty (I even forgot to put seasoned salt on them, they were just that good!)...a huge downside is how long these take to make. It's not even worth the effort to make more than 3 servings. I was not planning on feeding more than my boyfriend and self, and ended up having 3 more adults and a 5-year-old to feed as well, and it took us an hour to make all these. Dipping each ring 3 times is pretty time consuming! I admit it was worth it for the flavor and exquisite crunch, but I'll never make this for so many people again!

Paraplegic

Reviewed: Apr. 11, 2009
Went down very, very smooth! I thought it was like drinking chocolate milk with a shot of root beer, which sounds weird but is very good. I measured everything exactly, my only sub was to use a different whiskey (cheap Kentucky bourbon), which is what I enjoy in my usual cocktail of choice. Loved it, thanks for a great recipe!

Mandarin Chicken Roll-Ups

Reviewed: Apr. 9, 2009
This is extremely yummy! I got the o'k from picky boyfriend and from my 5-year-old to make these again when we are picnicking :) I played with the amounts, using only 3 chicken breasts to make 5 wraps; also I only had fat-free cream cheese. But there is so much flavor to this wrap; every bite is something different and good! Thanks for a great recipe.

Hungarian Noodle Side Dish

Reviewed: Apr. 9, 2009
Great, creamy side dish. I used light sour cream and 1% cottage cheese. I did cut the recipe in half, so I cooked on high for 2 hours and low for 30-40 minutes. Had a few crispy noodles around the edges, but the pasta wasn't mushy. Also instead of the can of soup I used Homemade Cream-Style Soup Mix from this site. This would be a great recipe for a dinner party when you don't want to worry about all your dishes at the last minute :) And I would definitely serve this one to guests. Thanks for a great recipe!

Turned out nice and moist. I cut the recipe in half and cooked in an 8x8 pan for about 50 minutes. Left out the walnuts, topped with Brown Sugar Cream Cheese Frosting from this site. Thanks for a simple recipe!

A Plus Carrot Cake

Reviewed: Apr. 5, 2009
Lovely and moist. I cut the recipe in half and cooked in an 8x8 pan for about 45 minutes. I cut down quite a bit on the amount of walnuts because my boyfriend is mildly allergic to them; other than that I changed nothing. I did notice there's nowhere in the directions to add the allspice so I just did that with the other spices. Very good topped with Brown Sugar Cream Cheese Frosting from this site!

Brown Sugar Cream Cheese Frosting

Amazing light, fluffy frosting! The flavor is just different enough from traditional cream cheese frosting to notice. I did substitute Neufchatel for the cream cheese and I think it tastes great anyway. I absolutely love it, thanks for a great recipe!

Pizza Sauce I

Reviewed: Apr. 1, 2009
What a great, fresh sauce! My man dipped his finger in and said it was amazing and that I should make it this way all the time now. And it was so easy :) I subbed dry basil for fresh but used a little more fresh parsley; this will be a great recipe to play around with to create different flavors! Thanks for a great recipe-

Amazing Whole Wheat Pizza Crust

Reviewed: Apr. 1, 2009
I don't know about amazing, but it was o'k. The only change I made was to add a teaspoon of garlic herb mix to the dough; I had to add an extra half cup of flour while kneading, but the dough turned out smooth and fairly easy to work with. It was just a little too dry for my taste. I cooked it at 425 for 16 minutes, then turned the temp down to 375 for another 10.

Jacky's Fruit and Yogurt Muffins

Reviewed: Mar. 27, 2009
These are great! Mainly because my boyfriend, who does not like muffins, ate three of them before I could say boo. I used raspberry yogurt and frozen strawberries (thawed and cut up a bit). I cut the recipe in half so I used an egg white. Wonderful quick recipe to make with stuff I keep on hand :)

Excellent stuff! I didn't use caraway seeds; because some of the reviews said the bread lacked flavor I added two teaspoons of sea salt to the dough and topped the egg wash with something different on each loaf. One each plain, sesame seeds, garlic powder, rosemary, thyme, celery seed, dried minced onion and Mrs. Dash tomato basil garlic mix. The bread was soft and yummy, we enjoyed it very much! Took a little over 30 minutes total in the oven.

Easy and tasty. I added a dash of garlic powder while heating the chicken, but still think it could have used...something. My man added soy sauce to his. Maybe some green onions next time; still pretty good as written though!
