Crazy Crust Pizza Dough

Reviewed: Aug. 2, 2008
Good for when you want a thin crust and are in a hurry. I made exactly as stated, making a breakfast pizza with sausage, mushrooms, onions, bell pepper, cheese and gravy. I put all the veggies on the raw dough, threw it in the oven for 25 minutes, then topped with sausage, gravy and cheese and cooked for another 10 minutes. Pretty good! Oh and I used bread flour instead of all-purpose.

Crispy Sweet Onion Rings

Reviewed: Jul. 29, 2008
The flavor was great, but I, like other reviewers, could not get the crumb coating to stick to the egg/onion. I finally just dumped a pile of crumbs over the layer of onion rings and baked that way.

Mom's Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Jul. 28, 2008
These turned out great. I didn't quite have enough semi sweet chips so mixed in a little bit of milk chocolate. I also like to make them a bit bigger. They are soft and chewy the next day, which is what I was looking for, so thanks!

Cantonese Dinner

Reviewed: Jul. 28, 2008
I made this for my boyfriend one night because I wasn't going to be home until late. He said it was awesome! I was hoping to try the leftovers but they were gone before I could! I used boneless ribs, cut into chunks, browned with a mix of veggie and sesame oils. I left out the mushrooms, so it was pretty much just pork and onions. According to my man it was great, so, five stars! Thanks for a great recipe! Update; made this again for some friends and it turned out well. The only change I made was to use fresh mushrooms instead of canned; I thought the dish was a bit salty, but otherwise the flavor was great.

These were awesome. I used half soy sauce and half teriyaki, and picky eater boyfriend had seconds.

Home Style Macaroni and Cheese

Reviewed: Jul. 28, 2008
This was super, simple and yummy! I used the 1/3 less fat Neufchatel, and next time I will probably use a bit less even of that. The dijon totally makes this dish. My dad (who is not a big eater) had two helpings, and my son ate a huge piece all by himself. The only thing I really added was some fresh chives to the bread crumb and parsley topping.

The flavor of these was great. I'm sad I didn't get any 'nooks & crannies' :( but my boyfriend wouldn't stop raving, so for that alone I will make them again. Thanks for an easy recipe!

Garlic Cheese Quick Bread

Reviewed: Jul. 19, 2008
Decided to make this for my son's birthday party, along with some other bread. I halved the recipe and cooked in a mini loaf pan, and it was the first kind gone! One person made me print out the recipe before they would leave. Huge hit, awesome flavor and texture. It was compared to some biscuits that a popular seafood restaurant offers....I added a teaspoon each of dried minced onion and parsley. Wish I wouldn't have halved the recipe-thanks! UPDATE: Made this again for my birthday dinner, this time the whole loaf. I did add 2 T of fresh parsley and 2 t of dried minced onion. This time, I used half mozzarella and half fresh parmesan cheese instead of cheddar, and it was sooo good. A little more sophisticated flavor. We had this bread with Slow Cooker Clam Chowder from this site, a meal in itself! UPDATE: Made this again, putting them in muffin cups this time. Made half a recipe, adding a little parsley. Took about 25 minutes to cook small muffins.

Whole Wheat Beer Bread

Reviewed: Jul. 18, 2008
I cannot believe this is a quick bread. Smell while baking is incredible, texture is awesome, and end result is super tasty. All I had was Heineken light, but I can't wait to make this with a Guinness. Mmm. Did add the melted butter, since almost every other reviewer did; probly about 1/4 cup.

Top Shelf Margaritas on the Rocks

Reviewed: Jul. 17, 2008
My first time making a margarita. Yummy. I used lime juice in the sour mix since that's all I had, and I nixed the egg white. My only complaint is that the recipe makes odd amounts of simple syrup and sour mix...

Tomato-Cornbread Salad with Avocado and Cilantro

Reviewed: Jul. 14, 2008
This was excellent. I used a batch of cornbread off the corn meal box, 4 large vine-on tomatoes (can't wait for my garden tomatoes to ripen!!), doubled the cilantro, and only used one avocado. Also had no red wine vinegar so used cider vinegar instead. This is a great recipe to modify for what you have on hand; I can't wait to make it again.

Excellent side dish. I used a batch of homemade noodles instead of the box of spaghetti, and also used one tiny yellow onion and half a large purple onion. Flavor was amazing and I will make this again!

Awesome. I can't taste the beer. I used a can of Molson's that someone gave us, and some fairly cheap tequila (AHH!) but it still tasted good.

Aussie Lime Pie

Reviewed: Jul. 5, 2008
This wasn't bad, but not what I was expecting even after reading all the reviews. As you can see from my photo the crust puffed up huge; by the time the thing was out of the oven it was more crust than filling. While the crust was tasty I think it would be better for cookies; once refrigerated overnight it was very difficult to cut. The filling was not bad at all, maybe a little tart. I made it exactly as stated, juicing 2-3 limes and straining them into the measuring cup, and also happened to have lemon peel on hand. I added green food coloring because the yellow didn't look very appetizing. So, the flavor wasn't bad overall, it just looked funny with a huge crust with a little puddle of filling in the middle. Next time I'll use some of the crust dough to make a small pan of cookies for the kids, and the adults can have the pie.

Easy Ham and Noodles

Reviewed: Jun. 30, 2008
Best comfort food ever. I skipped the soup and milk and just used the Cream Soup Base recipe from this site, to which I added a teaspoonful of garlic powder. Instead of cheddar I just used two slices of American, which I melted in with the cream soup. Could probably skip the cheese altogether next time, or else add a lot more for a more macNcheesy taste. Used elbow macaroni and added a carrot and some dried parsley. Excellent recipe and so easy to modify. Next time I'll add some frozen corn or peas or something too, there was plenty of sauce.

Best Big, Fat, Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookie

Reviewed: Jun. 29, 2008
These worked out great. I know I'm one of a million reviews but I just had to put in my five stars! Didn't change a thing, and the family loved them. Update: These are officially really easy; my boyfriend made them last night and they tasted great! He used mini chocolate chips, which was yummy. We only had about half the brown sugar called for, so he made up the difference with white sugar. Also, the recipe was cut in half but he didn't want to mess around with half an egg and half a yolk, so he just used one egg. These changes did not affect the final chewy goodness of the cookie!

Honey Dijon Pasta and Ham

Reviewed: Jun. 20, 2008
Silly me. I only had regular sour cream, so used that instead. Added a dash of garlic powder and dried parsley to the sauce as well. I used three whole green onions and two cups of leftover ham; the only other thing I did differently was to use all broccoli, since that's all we had. Fast & easy, and tasty. Maybe too much sour cream; next time I will cut back a bit and see how it tastes. Will make again for sure!

Whole Wheat Chapati

Not bad in comparison to the ease of preparation. We had garlic/lemon/parsley butter handy and the bread was much better dipped in it! Would make a good healthy filling-holder in lieu of bread, fewer calories.
