About this Cook
I am 28 years old from Lewisville, TX. I am passionate about food and love to cook for my husband, who isn't a bad cook himself. We like to experiment with different flavors and spice blends from all origins. If you asked me about my favorite types of food, the list of foods I don't like would be a shorter story. My favorite things to cook would have to be my pot roast, my husband's favorite turkey meatloaf, potato salad and anything having to do with a holiday or weekend Bar-B-Que. With a busy life and unpredictable meal schedules, it's not always easy to prepare the best meal but usually the most convenient. That is why, anytime I have a chance to be with friends and family, I love cooking a great meal, having a good time and enjoying each other.
My favorite things to cook
I love to cook just about anything. Breads, cookies, pies, cakes, pot roasts, greens, mac and cheese, chicken and the list goes on and on. See my recipes listed on the site and tell me what you think.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Growing up, we had holiday meal traditions for every holiday. On New years it was always black eye peas, fried potatoes and pork. On Easter, it was always a roasted ham. During the summer, most weekends consisted of a burger and hot dog. Thanksgiving always had the Turkey, dressing and a definite must have, broccoli, cheese rice casserole - oh, and the monkey bread! Christmas Eve, ALWAYS a mexican pile-on with tacos, nachos, Granny's cheese enchiladas and on Christmas Day, Fried Chicken, mashed potatoes and green beans. Oh man, I sure am hungry!
My cooking triumphs
I just recently made my husband's favorite, Apple Pie. The first time completely from scratch. He gave me a 6 on a scale from 1-10. He has also rated my potato salad as #1 and my homemade biscuits are close, but still not quite there, he says.

Southwestern Style Twice Baked Potatoes
Hi there. I'm Keri, the person who posted this recipe. I submitted as is due to the fact that I like raw vegetables but since this posting (2006) have found that it would be best to cook the onion and peppers first. Wonderful suggestion! My intention for the sour cream is to top the potato and is optional but it does taste great to add it into the potato mixture as well. I submitted the edits about 2 years ago, it takes a while for it to be processed. Also, use real bacon, not fake bacon pieces if you can. Thank for all of the nice reviews. I'm glad you all have enjoyed is as much as I do.

My mother has been making these for me every Christmas since I was a little kid. I can't imagine Christmas with out them. Thanks for sharing this...

Sweet Potato Pie II
This recipe is great. I've used this recipe for about 7 years now and this Thanksgiving I pulled it out again to whip one up. I only had dark brown sugar this time and to my surprise, it made it so much more delicious than any others I have ever made. As much as I enjoy this pie recipe as-is, I will be using dark brown sugar from now on! Thanks for sharing.
