About this Cook
My cooking tragedies
Several years ago while making my pumpkin pies for Thanksgiving I forgot to add the sugar! Luckily we had lots of whipped cream on hand, but once that was gone, we ended up throwing a whole pie out. Now every time I make pumpkin pie my family asks "Did you remember to add the sugar?" It has become a family joke. And no I will never ever forget the sugar again.

Sour Cream Burgers
I personally thought these were wonderful, but my family didn't like them. If I make them again I would add some spices or herbs to make them more flavorful.

Cracked Sugar Cookies II
Because I was running short on time, I was looking for a sugar cookie that I didn't have to roll out. So instead of my usual recipe, I decided to try this one. Besides, my children said they preferred a softer cookie. My daughter took one bite and said 'Now this is what a sugar cookie should taste like'. Instead of rolling them into balls, I used a scoop which wasn't as messy as having to roll them by hand and much quicker. I also used 1 tsp. vanilla and 1 tsp. almond extract. The only other change I would make is to decrease the sugar. Even my kids agreed it was too sweet.

Pizzelles III
I love making pizzelles at Cristmastime. They are so quick and easy to whip up and bake. And this is one of the best recipes I have found. I'm not fond of anise so I enjoy experimenting with different flavor variations. I doubled the recipe and along with the 2 tbsp. of vanilla, I also added 1 tbsp. of almond extract (one of my favorite flavors). I've also tried orange extract and added orange zest to the batter - DELICIOUS! I personally like to bake them longer also.
