About this Cook
We are farmers in Nebraska. I work on the farm with my husband during the spring and fall. I consider myself a stay at home mom, my mom babysits when i do farm work. I began my cooking career in 4-H, my mom was the leader. Now i help my kids with there 4-H baking. My youngest son is the best baker in the family.
My favorite things to cook
I like to cook meals, not necessary a baker. I am successful at it but prefer the meat and potato cooking! my husband does all the grilling. I also like to do lots of "football food".
My favorite family cooking traditions
Our 4H baking is a tradition, the kids bake everything they can and we are really busy trying and perfecting recipes for weeks before the fair. Then entry day is just crazy, we usually get up at 4 am to get started.

Linzer Tarts
My son made these for the county fair and was selected to take them to the state fair. They are so fantastic! We rolled them out between parchment paper layers and then put it in the freezer for a few minutes to make it easier to work with. We also cooked the raspberry preserves to make it stickier. We sprinkled the top hot from the oven so the jam stayed clear. Thanks so much for the recipe!

Cranberry Trail Bars
These bars are so good. My 9 year old daughter made them for a 4-H project for the county fair and won first place. We used salted sunflower seeds and not raw ones and added a few extra pecans. All of my kids liked them too.

Lemon Apricot Cake
This cake is so delicious! I get the apricot nectar in the Mexican food section of the grocery store; it is in cans like soda pop. It is so moist and the glaze has such a delightful zing!
