About this Cook
I'm 24 and married to a wonderful husband...who will always try the new things I make...and I have 2 kids. A 7 year old son and 18 month old daughter.
My favorite things to cook
Being a working mom and student I always look for recipes that are quick, easy and kid friendly yet flavorful and I look for recipes that I can prepare in advance. I love to experiment with new flavors too, I hate making the same type of dishes over and over again, it's too boring. I love using my indoor grill pan and George Forman grill as well during the winter. I'm really not much of a baker, I can bake I just don't very often, I prefer to cook.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mom comes from a line of excellent cooks, many of the dishes I make are my mom's recipes or variations of them. We always had traditional home cooking and lots of baked goods when I grew up, something that my husband did not have so he loves my cooking.
My cooking triumphs
My steak marinade is to die for, we always end up eating way too much when I make steak becuase we just can't get enough of it! My son always asks for 'that good steak.' I always know exactly what he means.
My cooking tragedies
I have always loved my mom's scalloped potatoes and ham but do you think I can make it like her? No way. I tried making it just like her, followed her instructions and it was disgusting to look at, I didn't even taste it. We went out to eat that night. I also cannot make biscuits to save my life, they are always dry and/or hard as rocks. I buy refrigerated biscuits.

S'More Bars II
These were OK, the graham crackers were really crumbly which made them hard to serve out of the pan on a tray. I think if I'm that hungry for smores I'll just make the real thing toasting the marshmallow over a candle :-)

Black Pepper Beef and Cabbage Stir Fry
We love this, could not get the kids to try it but my husband and I love it. Just the right amount of pepper to give it spice. I boil up some oriental ramen noodles, drain the water and sprinkle the seasoning packet on the noodles then toss with the hamburger/cabbage mixture.

Jacky's Fruit and Yogurt Muffins
This was pretty good, used peach yogurt and fresh peaches. I would prefer if the tops were not so soft and sticky. I'll keep this recipe in the recipe box but I'm not sure how often I'll make it. Will be good when I have fruit to use up.
