About this Cook
I am 28 years old and live in a cozy little home in Seattle with my new husband. I don't have as much time to cook and bake as I would like (I work full time for a non-profit, go to UW in the evenings) but when I can I am in seventh heaven. Not sure how I turned out to be such a foodie.
My favorite things to cook
I have recently discovered the joy of slow cooking (thanks to the joy of wedding gifts!). My gosh how easy it is... not without effort, as you still have to put a little time in the night before or early morning, but wow, how great to come home to dinner already made. Especially nice the nights I have class and very little time to cook a real meal.
My favorite family cooking traditions
From-scratch lemon and garlic basting sauce, mickey mouse pancakes, and the ever elusive potatoes ro'esty.
My cooking triumphs
I recently hosted my first party (I have always had too small apartments) and it was a huge success. My own personal triumph: the food! While not all of it was super difficult or even from-scratch, one particular appetizer was simply fantastic - proscuitto wrapped asparagus (from this site) was the hot ticket item.
My cooking tragedies
When I was 8 or so I baked my first cake. I mistook the flour for the powdered sugar and the "cake" ended up as a chocolate sink hole. Amazingly, it tasted all right, but it looked terrible.

White Bean Bruschetta
made as is except dried basil instead of fresh. yummy, great reviews from guests! i accidentally added the cheese/topping prior to baking; it actually came out deelish. think i'll make this again but w/ whipped cream cheese.

Thai Curry Soup
Amazing - incredible - delicious - wow. This is my favorite recipe on this site so far, both for the fact that I followed it almost exactly and that it turned out incredibly like the 'authentic' versions I've had before. I can see this becoming a regular part of my routine. The best part is the fluidity with the veggies and meat. You can really change it up, but I would recommend keeping the base consistent. Thank you Kaeli!!!

Cream of Fresh Tomato Soup
This was very good, but after lots of changes: 4 large tomatoes, peeled, celery seed and basil, and only 1 3/4 c milk. Also pureed the veggies after cooking and added all back to pot. Could have used more tomato flavor - next time I'll probably use 6 or even 8 tomatoes.
