My little boy has become known for his long, fuzzy, curly hair. He has been mistaken for a "precious little girl" serveral times. Still, I could not bring myself to cut off his culrs I love so much! Well, the other day Parker put on his camo hat and I was amazed by the resemblance! I realized that he bore a striking resemblance to what I thought Jared Allen looked like as a mullet-headed toddler. Nothing against you Jared, you are an outstading football player and my favorite viking. So, last Saturday I got the courage and the scissors and I gave Parker his first haircut! This was a first for me too, I had never cut hair before unless you count cutitng Ava's bangs. When I cut off his first curl I was shaking and a little nauseous - I was so nervous! I just couldn't believe that I was cutting off my baby's beloved fuzzy curls! But, when it was all said and done, Parker went from being a very cute little long, fuzzy, curly haired, toddler Jared Allen look-a-like to a very handsome little boy that will never be mistaken for a "precious little girl" again! Happy first haircut my sweet, handsome boy!
Parker rocks the fuzzy hair.

Aawww! He's a handsome little guy! Very brave of you to just dive right in and do it yourself. I used to work in a salon that had a separate children's area where they could sit in chairs that looked like fire trucks and elephants and things like that. They can be quite a challenge and you've got to move fast!

Awwwwwwww, he looks so cute!! Such a sweet story froghopper. I can relate to this a bit, I used to be a hair stylist before changing careers. I would always get a bit nervous before I would cut a little ones hair in the salon. Not so much because I was afraid of making a mistake, I just was scared of them and their mommy getting upset. My work station looked like a child's. Toys, big candy machines, and so on...anything to keep them focusing on something else. I've seen many tears from the first haircut..LOL ;)

LOVE IT! I was the same with my son and didn't get his hair cut until recently as well (he's 2-1/2), so I know exactly what you went through. This story made me laugh because everyone thought Gabe was a girl too! Reading this reminded me of my situation, so it's good to know I'm not the only one! :)

Thanks guys! Yes, I did have to move fast, I had my DH there to help me keep him still. He kept trying to look at what I was doing up there! Near the end I broke out the smarties in a desparte attempt to make it less tramatic on him! He's 2 1/2 years old too Christina!

I've given many a haircut where the parents brought some kind of candies to entertain the kiddos. You find out real quick that all those little hairs you're cutting off fall right on to ALL the sticky places created by the candies, lol.

I still remember my youngest son's 1st haircut. I miss those blond curls! I love the man he is, but I truly miss the baby he was!

About Me
I'm 28, married to a great guy, have 2 wonderful kids, and a cat. My favorite thing to do is hang out with my kids. I also love to try new recipes. I work as a lab tech.
My favorite things to cook
I love to cook mexican dishes. I would cook more Italian dishes too, but my husband is not a big fan of Pasta - there's something wrong with him I think! Not much of a baker - I'm a bit afriad of it. I can do 2 pies and 1 cookie very well but beyond that - yikes!!!
My favorite family cooking traditions
When I was young, at leat once a year all my family on my mom's side would pack into my grandparents little house and have "Uffda Tacos" AKA fry bread tacos. Everyone brought 1 ingredient. They got the name "Uffda Tacos" because my grandpa (who is an old Norweigien)would always unbuckle his belt and say "Uffda" when he was finished. My grandpa has since passed on and now my family is spread across the country, but that will always be one of my favorite memories.
My cooking triumphs
Anytime I make something new and my husband says he likes it.
My cooking tragedies
My grandma use to make the best home made bread ever. She never used a recipe. I decided that I would find a recipe for bread and make it on my own. It didn't rise ay all. So I tried again, and again it didn't rise. My spirit was broken (fragile teenager spirit). It took about 15 years but I finally tried working with yeast again and have found success! I have not been able to recreate my grandma's bread tho.
