About this Cook
I learned to cook from my Hungarian mother and grandmother, and professional baker grandfather. I still relish the traditional dishes that I grew up with. However, living in Texas is a very different animal from the northern U.S. I have adapted my chili to reflect my evolution into a Southern inhabitant. Also, even though I detested spicy foods as a kid, I now try to add something derived from hot peppers to many dishes that I make.
My favorite things to cook
Chili, pizza, pies, cakes, anything new and different (my ADHD kicking in!)
My favorite family cooking traditions
German Christmas cookies, pizza on the weekend, carrot cake for my Dad's birthday, apple pie for my birthday.
My cooking triumphs
My chili!
My cooking tragedies
I do not make a good dinner. I can handle one dish meals or a main dish with a salad, but more than that and things start to crash into failure.

Chocolate Pie II
I really enjoyed the texture and flavor of this pie. I would imagine it would taste floury if the flour was not cooked long enough as indicated. I made the following adjustments due to other comments- added 1/3 cup milk, added 1/4 cup sugar, and decreased vanilla to 1/2 tsp. I also incorporated the egg yolks and margarine into the milk before adding to the cocoa mixture. I was able to cook the entire 7 minutes without problems. Thanks for a fast and easy recipe!

Cream Cheese Corn Bake
So many ways to customize this recipe and it will still turn out wonderfully, so I gave it a 5 star rating. My own additions were white pepper, red cayenne pepper, tabasco, and grated sharp cheddar cheese. I also sauteed chopped onion and red bell pepper in bacon grease, and added that along with cubed ham to the mix. My only comment on the original recipe, is to steam or thaw the frozen corn before adding to the mix to allow for more even baking in the oven.

Quick and Easy Pimento Cheese
This is a great base for all kinds of variations. I agree that I like mayo instead of salad dresssing. I make this recipe a lot. My favorite variation is using white sharp cheddar, adding minced garlic and dill. Sometimes I dont't even include the pimentos. Serve this on a nice sourdough or other artesian bread. My brother even uses his for grilled cheese sandwhiches.
