About this Cook
29 years old and living with my partner of 10 years with our cockatiel and wonderful dog spencer. i love cooking for 2, not as much time and dishes :).
My favorite things to cook
i love trying out new things. i enjoy baking even though i don't really eat too many sweets. i enjoy trying to cook more complicated things, even though i have to reread the directions a billion times since i tend to make mistakes, even after reading it over and over!.
My favorite family cooking traditions
i grew up around a lot of slovak food since that's what my mom cooks. i enjoy trying to make a few of the dishes she does, but i have yet to make too many since a lot of it isn't written out. it's more along the lines of 'a little bit of this and that' and i'm still not too good with that sort of thing.
My cooking triumphs
i made a really good german chocolate cake from scratch. the frosting tasted wonderful.
My cooking tragedies
i was making a black forest cake and i screwed up the frosting involving hot sugar syrup. the syrup got really hard and so i microwaved it to soften it which made the frosting really runny. in order to keep it from just melting off, the cake had to be kept in the fridge and eaten fast whenever you got a piece out. the whole thing was quite sad.

Best Ever Pie Crust
this was super easy to make. it tasted good as well but i found it a little dense and not quite as flaky as i would have liked.
