About this Cook
As a native New Zealander who lives in Mississippi the cultural differences in our cooking styles have been interesting to say the least. Merging traditionally fat laden Southern favorites into healthy alternatives have been a great challenge.
My favorite things to cook
I love cooking stews and casseroles, and baking. I am particularly interested in using yeast it's just cool !
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mom was never a great cook, or cooked amazing things, so ou family traditions have generally been to look for Nana to bring the family favorites.
My cooking triumphs
Pastry. It's a difficult thing to bake, and generally it's cheap to buy and works out the same way, however, there have been a few greats in my cooking repetoire.
My cooking tragedies
Yikes... can't say!

Sweet Dinner Rolls
These are so amazing - soft, fluffy, light. I made 36 small dinner rolls, and no one could stop eating them. Please try!

Curried Honey Mustard Chicken
I like curry, I like honey, I like mustard, I like chicken.... this was not very good. While it wasn't inedible, it had a pungent flavor that didn't work for us. When you consider the calorie content of butter vs. sour cream I think I'll stick wtih my creamy honey mustard chicken recipe. I couldn't help but think this recipe was a waste of very expensive organic free range chicken breasts.

Award Winning Soft Chocolate Chip Cookies
These were great, very tasty and are really good for school lunches. One suggestion would be to watch the size, I made the mistake of making them too big and ended up with gigantic cookies. I also used chocolate buttons, and they were nice. My cookies were a bit cakey and not firm, but I think this could be due to the fact they were too big. I have another batch in the oven that are smaller so will see how these do.
