As a native New Zealander who lives in Mississippi the cultural differences in our cooking styles have been interesting to say the least. Merging traditionally fat laden Southern favorites into healthy alternatives have been a great challenge. I love cooking stews and casseroles, and baking. I am particularly interested in using yeast it's just cool ! My mom was never a great cook, or cooked amazing things, so ou family traditions have generally been to look for Nana to bring the family favorites. Pastry. It's a difficult thing to bake, and generally it's cheap to buy and works out the same way, however, there have been a few greats in my cooking repetoire. Yikes... can't say!
