About this Cook
I'm married w/3 adult children who still live at home with us and go to college. I've worked for the local fire department in fire prevention for about 14 years and hope to retire in about 3 more. We'll see what the economy has to say about that later.
My favorite things to cook
Mexican food, YUMMY! I also love to make cookies and cassaroles, anything easy.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Parmesean artichoke dip whenever we have a party. I always try new breakfast cassaroles for Christmas morning. My family will only eat spaghetti w/angel hair pasta, so that's my thing too.
My cooking triumphs
If my family likes it and eats it, that's triumphs enough for me.
My cooking tragedies
I always cook with fat free milk and that can sometimes create a mess for me.

Asparagus Chicken Divan
I made this recipe because my 21 year old daughter loves asparagus and I rarely cook with it. The entire group (5 of us) loved it and wants me to make it again. I used half and half instead of whipping the cream and it turned out lovely.

Slow Cooker Chicken Taco Soup
EXCELLENT, EXCELLENT! I didn't have time to do this in the slow cooker, so I adjusted for the stove-top. We don't like the taste of beer, so I subbed that with chicken broth, but used about 24 ounces and more tomato sauce to accomodate stop-top cooking. I cooked it all for 1 hr, took out the chicken and shredded, put it back and cooked for another hour on a low boil. I also added some chili powder. Adding shredded cheese and a dolup of sour cream after poured into a bowl is a MUST. This one will become a winter staple at my house.

Julia's Easy Slow Cooker Chicken
It made the house smell great, but the taste was only ok. It was mushy and not appealing to look at. I don't think I'll make this again. I used 4 chicken breasts.
