Vegetarian Sweet and Sour Meatballs

Reviewed: Feb. 24, 2011
These were a hit with my family, and we are not vegetarians. I used pecan "meal" because I wasn't sure the texture would go over well otherwise. Glad I did; I will do that from now on. I liked the sweet n sour but I think I prefer it to be more savory. Will simply bake and add to spaghetti sauce next time.

White Chocolate Cheesecake with White Chocolate Brandy Sauce

Reviewed: Nov. 21, 2010
This is now my go-to cheesecake recipe. No cracks, awesome texture and flavor. I did add the oreo crust but I think I'll try it next time as written, or use a lighter graham cracker crust. It definitely makes too much sauce as written.

Country Apple Dumplings

Reviewed: Oct. 15, 2010
Loved it. Next time I'm going to cut back the sugar, just to see if it's still as good. It changes consistency when it's cold, but it's still great, just different!

The Best Thai Coconut Soup

Reviewed: Mar. 13, 2010
Loved it! I did substitute chicken for the shrimp, added an extra tsp of curry paste, and a pinch of cayenne pepper for a little zing. Those changes are just personal preference, it would've been a 5 anyway.

Gypsy Soup

We liked this quite a lot, as did the family I made it for. I still give it 5 stars as is, but might try substituting black beans for the chick peas next time, just for personal taste.

Sweet, Sticky and Spicy Chicken

Reviewed: Mar. 11, 2010
Very good. Like others, I coated the chicken with a bit of flour to help the sauce to thicken. For me (and everyone else at my house who ate it) it was a little too spicy, and we like spicy. I will cut back to 1Tbl of tabasco next time, but I will definitely make it again.

Adrienne's Cucumber Salad

Reviewed: Apr. 21, 2009
I liked the flavor but I don't think I would call it a salad. My family thought they were pickles and they did taste like it. I'd serve it as a side, but not as a salad.

Five Flavor Pound Cake II

Reviewed: Apr. 13, 2009
I like to review a recipe as it is written, not rate it with changes made. This was good but I wasn't as huge a fan as most. I would not bake it quite as long. I also prefer a more dense texture to a pound cake. This was lighter like a yellow cake. The flavor was good but it seemed very strong and syrupy sweet where it was soaked in, and lacking in the middle. Not bad but I think I'll keep looking.

French Bread

Reviewed: May 22, 2008
I actually forgot to do the third rise and it still worked out just fine. It was probably a bit more dense because of that, but I like it that way anyway. It does give 2 good sized loaves even though it doesn't look like it will at first. Great recipe, will make again. Oh, and butter on it is a must (for me)!

Annie's Fruit Salsa and Cinnamon Chips

I enjoyed this as is, and equally enjoyed some leftover salsa stirred into oatmeal!

Icelandic Christmas Cake

Reviewed: Dec. 23, 2007
At first I was only going to give this 3 stars because it was crumbly... But then I refrigerated it and it sliced wonderfully. It must be completely cool or you will have a mess. Nice flavor - I increased the lemon to 1 tsp, personal preferance. My husband loved it, so I guess I'll be making it again!

Icelandic Christmas Cake

Great flavor, but what a mess! The very center was still a tiny bit gooey, and the rest was quite crumbly. I doubled the recipe and made two loaves. Maybe I shouldn't have.

Sorry, only 1 star as it's written here. Drastically reduce the salt and it would probably be 5 stars.

Glazed Tofu Meatloaf

Reviewed: Apr. 5, 2006
A couple reviewers thought this was bland so I used the spicy tofu rather than the plain and it was good. Next time I would use the lo-sodium soy sauce. Very good - I'd make again and tweak it a little for personal taste.

Broccoli and Cauliflower Casserole

I liked it well enough to make it again but I would cut the cheese in half next time. It was also good with chicken in it and french-fried onions on top.

Golden Sweet Cornbread

Reviewed: Apr. 30, 2004
I tried doubling it in a 9x13 and made a few changes to the ingredients. It worked great - this is what I did: 2 c flour, 2 c cornmeal, 1 c sugar, 1 1/2 tsp salt, 3 tsp baking powder, 3 eggs, 2 c BUTTERMILK, 2/3 c veg oil. (I didn't have to alter the baking time or temp.)
