I served these to my husband a while back and he could not stop raving about them and he is a "meat" kinda guy. Can't remember if i followed the recipe exactly but close enough to say it is truly delicious.

My husband loves applesauce of any kind...well not exactly... it was always something i could never remember when i got to the grocery store. Then I found this recipe and at the same time Costco had a dozen apples for some ridiculous price...Cameos, I think...so I bought them and came home and made a double batch, using the crock pot method suggested on this site. I did as they said...less water, less sugar, as these apples were very sweet, and cooked for about 4 hours. The last half hour i take the lid off to reduce the liquid and smashed the apples with the back of a spoon. I also add some cinnamon, as we like that. Eveyone i have served this to, including my sister who is a fabulous cook LOVES it. In fact, she asked to have it twice when she was visiting this winter. If you like applesauce you will never buy another jar of it again with this recipe.

I made this a week or so ago and everyone loved them. I put the filling into a baggie and snipped off the end and piped it into the mushrooms...very easy!
