Double Chocolate Biscotti

Very good. Almost too chocolate-y. Will try this same dough minus the chocolate chips and with dried cherries added next time.

The Best Banana Bread

Reviewed: Nov. 21, 2009
Very good flavor. I used 1/2 brown sugar, 1/2 white. Used 4 bananas, 2 c flour, 1/2 c wheat germ and 1/2 c pecans, Mine seemed a bit dry; will shorten the baking time by 5-10 minutes next time. Good basic recipe.

Christmas Strawberry Bread

Reviewed: Nov. 21, 2009
While the flavor of this bread is good, I didn't care for the texture. It was very most, almost puddding-like. The color was a very dark red, almost a brown. I was expect more of a quick bread texture. I won't be making this again.

Green Bean and Potato Salad

Reviewed: Aug. 12, 2009
Good. Not the best. Kids refused to eat it because the balsamic vinegar turned the potatoes brown.

This was good as written, but we like it best with whole grain rice and Rotel tomatoes with cilantro and lime.

Excellent Oatmeal Cookies

Made the recipe as written. Bland, dry. This does not do justice to what an oatmeal cookie can be.

Papa Drexler's Bavarian Pretzels

Vwey easy to make with a Kitchenaid doing the kneading; mixed and kneaded 6 min in the KA bowl, shaped by hand, boiled as directed and baked. Taste great.

Banana Banana Bread

Reviewed: Feb. 22, 2009
Perhaps I was expecting too much of this bread; it was okay, but not exceptional. I used pecans. If I try it again, I'll add extra spices as some other reviewers have mentioned.

Baked Teriyaki Chicken

Reviewed: Jan. 17, 2009
The family loved this recipe. I didn't have garlic; used 1 tsp garlic powder. Drained the chicken mid-bake to let the sauce thicken, probably because of the saline solution that is added to frozen tenderloins. Served with rice pilaf and green salad. Excellent taste.

Very good. Used walnuts, as that's what I had. Should be even better with pecans.

Vegan Split Pea Soup II

Reviewed: Nov. 7, 2008
Very good. I'm not usually a fan of split peas. I prefer thicker soups, and plan to puree half the recipe next time. I'll try adding potatoes, too, but this is a good basic soup without changing a thing.

Bat Wings

Reviewed: Oct. 30, 2008
Good. These don't stand out at first bite, but draw you back for more. I may try a little seasoning salt in the mix next time. I'll try marinating them first next time and maybe reduce the sauce so that it's thicker. I used frozen wings, and ended up with more sauce than I started with. Definitely worth a try if you have kids.

Peach Cobbler IV

Reviewed: Oct. 4, 2008
I used 29 oz can drained peaches. I had the list of ingredients, but not the directions, so I melted the butter in the pan, put in the peaches, forgot the sugar for the peaches. Sprinkled cinnamon on the peaches, poured on batter with about 1/2 tsp baking powder added, added cinnamon for color. Realized what I'd done when I found the recipe and turned the oven to 400F for 20 minutes for browner top. Turned out well, considering. Obviously a fail-proof recipe; will lower the butter to 1/4 cup next time, leave the topping on top and possibly add finely ground nuts or wheat germ to the topping. I thought it was sweet enough without the cup of sugar in the peaches. A nice warm breakfast on a cool morning.

Soft Oatmeal Cookies

Reviewed: Jul. 13, 2008
Easy, good but not the best recipe for raisin-less oatmeal cookies. I'll try these again sometime and see if I just didn't get it right the first time. It might be the cinnamon, but we usually love cinnamon. Thanks for the recipe.

Chicken Salad Spread

Reviewed: Jun. 28, 2008
Good, not excellent. Will try it with freshly cooked chopped chicken. I think it's the taste and texture of the canned chicken (I used Del Monte canned chicken breast) that I don't care for. Easy, good basic recipe to have on hand for emergency lunch. Would be good with canned tuna.

Tart Lemon Ice Cream

Great lemon flavor. Easy to make. Followed another reviewer's advice and reprocessed it after an hour. Kept lemon juice, cream and milk in (refrigerator) freezer for 1/2 hour before processing to decrease freezing time.

Tangy Poppy Seed Fruit Salad

Reviewed: May 24, 2008
Taste was excellent. I've taken it to an outdoor party, a work potluck and made it today at home. Well received at the party and home-not well liked at work. May have been the poppy seeds-people kept asking, "What are those black things?". I omitted the lime zest and the poppy seeds at home (the lime was zested out!) and I liked that one best.

Broccoli and Ramen Noodle Salad

Great recipe. Have used a very similar one for years. I use approx 1/2 c sunflower seeds and 1/2 c slivered almonds instead of peanuts and like the roasted chicken Ramen soup the best. Very easy and very quick.
