My mini bakers...
About this Cook
I'm a fulltime manager as well as a fulltime mom. I use cooking to interact with my kids (as well as to satisfy my cravings!)
My favorite things to cook
We like to make cookies and we're always looking for interesting (but kid-friendly) one dish and pressure cooker meals
My favorite family cooking traditions
Most of my family's favorites are hand-me-downs from my mother: angel food cake, classic cheesecake, bread. Lately I've developed some additional expertise in finger foods - I've become the "Antipasto Expert" for potluck meals with my husband's family.
My cooking triumphs
I made nine cakes for my son's baptism party (many in advance, some the day of) and they all held up great despite the outdoor reception in 90 degree heat!
My cooking tragedies
Too numerous to mention...

Sturdy Whipped Cream Frosting
This recipe really performed as stated - not too sweet and held up well, even 2 days later! I used this for the "sea" on my kids' pirate cake and only wished I'd added cocoa and used it for the chocolate "ship" too! Will experiment with a chocolate version next time and also plan to try it with extra cream cheese for a sturdier, less sweet cream cheese frosting for carrot cake. Excellent frosting - definitely a keeper!

Spinach Dip I
Made this a few weeks ago when I needed a last-minute appetizer - it was great! I used cream cheese instead of sour cream and onion soup mix instead of vegetable based on what I had available and it turned out really nice. I served it with a variety of crackers and veggies. Thanks!

Brown Sugar Cut-Out Cookies and Icing
I made this recipe for a "girls day" my 7 year old had. I made a batch and a half and there was plenty of dough for the 6 kids to roll out. I added 2 medium eggs to the batter, as noted by other reviewers. The dough was tasty and easy to work with and the cookies have stayed nice and soft. I skipped the frosting (too many hands in the kitchen this time around) so no comment on that. I made the dough a day in advance, rolled it out on 5 sheets and left it in the freezer till we were ready to use it - worked great!
