About this Cook
I am 39 and a mother of 3. My husband and I love children. We drive a church bus almost every Wednesday, taking between 10 & 24 kids to childrens church. I am a nurse in the skilled floor of a rehabilitation & nursing center. When I have a patient whose family doesn't live close, or is not involved in their care for one reason or another, I love to spoil them with home cooking according to their dietary restrictions.
My favorite things to cook
Pies, candy, decorated cakes, and country cooked meals.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Every Christmas since my children were old enough to help, we have make cut out sugar cookies. We devide the dough into three portions and they get to cut out whatever shapes they choose and decorate them with icing, colored sugars, sprinkles, and candy. They then give plates of cookies to friends for gifts. Each year we also make cookies for the church cookie walk. Our church has volenteers to bake 6 dozen cookies each or make candies. The church's teen youth group then sells them by the pound to the community and uses the money made to go on mission trips. We also have Grandma's Christmas Ham every year @ Christmas.
My cooking triumphs
Pies and decorated cakes. I have sold pies and cakes @ work to make extra money for the holidays. People often say, "Really, did you buy these and rewrap them?" I just smile and answer, "I wish it was that simple." The bags under my eyes from late night baking is the proof in the pudding.
My cooking tragedies
Divinity!!!!! My two daughters love divinity and my mom use to make it every year. I have tried to make it several times, but have only had FLOPS!!

Buttermilk Coleslaw
Excellent dressing!!! I also add 1 small grated onion and a small amount of grated green pepper to this recipe. Sometimes I substitute 1/2 pkg. cabbage slaw mix and 1/2 pkg. brocolli slaw mix. Yummy!!! Pattyklpn

Julia's Best Ever Chocolate Chip Cookies In A Jar
3/15/2007 I took orders for cookies in a jar the Christmas 2006 at work. This was the chocolate chip recipe I choose to use and had many complements on the taste of the cookies from those that made them. I sold them to buy Christmas for my 3 Teens, instead of getting a part time job. I encourage other parents to try this. Thanks.

Cowboy Cookie Mix in a Jar
3/15/2007 This is just one of the Recipe, for cookie jars I sold for the 2006 Christmas season. I did this instead of getting a part time job to pay for Christmas gifts for my 3 kids with cash. I had the most orders for this recipe. All together I made $250.00 profit and plan to do it again this Christmas. Thanks, so much.
